How Can It Be?!
Some time ago in Afghanistan a captured
GI was set free after 5 years. He was vaunted as "hero" in the U.S. What
his merit? Nobody knows. The only thing his pals know of is he was a
deserter.
He deserted his barrack while on duty,
throwing away his arms, only to be caught soon by the Afghans. Ignorant
of what really had happened, his pals wandered about here and there to
find him. The search cost them six lives. "Funny, he could be hero?!"
His pals protested.
The U.S. authorities tried to make the
soldiers keep mum about the incident. But they rejected, they told the
truth. This, of course, embarrassed the government. It wanted to make
more heroes among soldiers fighting in Afghanistan so that it can
increase its effectives for its wars of aggression overseas.
However, sham heroes like that won't help the U.S. come out of the present misery and plight.
