Venezuela Invariably Advances for Socialism

Pyongyang, January 28 (KCNA) -- The Venezuelan government and people are vigorously advancing along the way of independence, working hard to lay firm foundation for socialist construction.
As known, the Venezuelan government decided in February 2009 to drastically amend the constitution in the interests of the country and the nation and as required by the era so as to provide the solid political and legal foundations for socialist development.
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez Frias said capitalism brought misfortunes only to the overwhelming majority of the popular masses and that the only way for the Venezuelan people is socialism. The government would replace the outdated capitalist state system with a new system serving the popular masses and make positive efforts to develop the nation's economy through complete nationalization, he stressed.
The government has taken national measures for interests of the country and people to build up material foundations for socialist construction.
Early in 2007 the government made public the plan for nationalization of industries.
It lowered the poverty rate by 21.6 percent in the first half of last year and mulls reducing the number of the poor to 2.5 million.
It is putting efforts to increasing national defence in order to provide military guarantee for the successful socialist construction.
It adopted a decision on establishing strong anti-air system, taking steps to intensify the air force and double tank and artillery units.
The struggle of the government and people of Venezuela will surely achieve excellent results as they vigorously advance along the way of socialism and independence, believing in their own strength. -0-
