Pyongyang, January 31 (KCNA) -- Last December witnessed the withdrawal of all U.S. forces from Iraq.
The U.S. vociferously advocated in the whole period of its forces' presence in Iraq after its invasion that it would bring "freedom", "democracy" and "prosperity" to the country. But what it brought the country in reality was more than 114 200 civilian casualties and mayhem such as ceaseless terrorist acts caused by the confrontation among different forces, etc.
From the outset of the new year there happened an unbroken chain of terrorist acts in different parts of Iraq, causing anxiety and horror throughout it.
A chain of terrorist bomb attacks took place in Shiite Muslims-dominated area of Baghdad on Jan. 24, leaving 14 dead and at least 70 wounded.
Bomb attacks and gunfights occurred almost every day, killing or wounding a lot of people and destroying buildings and temples.
According to data available recently, terrorist bomb attacks have claimed more than 170 human casualties since the withdrawal of the U.S. forces from Iraq.
It is none other than the U.S. which turned Iraq into a country torn with violence and terror.
The U.S. craftily fostered conflicts among major political forces and scramble for power among various sides during its forces' presence in the country in a bid to maintain its influence.
It let Shiite Muslims wrest power while pitting Sunnis and the Kurd tribe against them. On the other hand, the U.S. drew Sunnis to it, putting pressure upon them. It opposed the Kurd tribe's call for independence, while egging them on to build their autonomous region.
Consequently, Iraq has been thrown into extreme instability and serious mayhem due to contradictions among tribes and scramble among political forces. -0-
