Dear SARU Supporters
We urge everyone who supports those resisting fascism in Ukraine to support this protest of the British Government on Thursday 28th July.
The British government actively supported the ‘Euromaidan’ movement and the illegal coup of February 2014, which saw openly fascist, Nazi-admiring parties become part of the government and the entire state structure.
Since then we have seen the Odessa Trade Union House fire in which at least 50 people were murdered, trade union and opposition party offices ransacked and burned, the Communist Party of Ukraine declared illegal.
The fascist militias responsible for hundreds of murders have been incorporated into the national army and are being trained by British and other NATO personnel, while opposition activists are being attacked and beaten, arrested at roadblocks, judges have been threatened and intimidated by fascists, and several defendants have been seized and driven away when leaving courthouses.
The United Nations Subcommittee on Prevention of Torture and the International Red Cross have been denied access to a network of secret prisons operated by the Security Service of Ukraine, and thousands have been arrested and jailed for opposing the war in the east, labelled “supporters of separatism”, now a criminal offence.
There have been widespread attacks on Gay Pride events, Crimean Tartars in Ukraine have been threatened, and the memorial to 33,000 Jews killed in the 1941 pogrom at Babi Yar has been repeatedly desecrated by Nazi groups.
Thousands of journalists who visited the Donbass republics to cover the shooting down of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 have had their names and contact details published and labelled “accomplices in terrorism”, with support from the Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, who has strong ties to the Azov, Aidar and Tornado battalions. These militias are now working closely with the police.
The main national holiday now marks the foundation of Stepan Bandera’s OUN(B), which collaborated with Nazi Germany in the genocide of 5-7 million people, a quarter of Ukraine's population including 1.5 million jews, and the deportation of two million people to Germany. The teaching of history at every level is being officially replaced by Bandera’s ideology, and in 2014 the Ukrainian Security Service was re-organised on the lines of the OUN(B).
The EU and NATO have given the ‘Western democracy’ stamp of approval to this regime. The British government has sent 100 Army trainers to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine and signed a new 15 year Defence agreement in March 2016, while In June, the EU Commission reaffirmed its support for a visa-free regime with Ukraine, and NATO has offered “Association Partnership” status to both Ukraine and Georgia at its Warsaw Summit.
Britain has even funded a ‘Peace-building school’ linked to the website which named and labelled journalist “terrorist accomplices”, which sought to “explain” and sanitise the image of Stepan Bandera.
WE DEMAND THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT ENDS ALL FINANCIAL AND MILITARY SUPPORT FOR THIS DESPICABLE REGIME!
We will be calling for:
  • Justice for the Odessa Fire victims!
  • End British military and financial aid to the Ukraine government
  • Implement the Minsk 2 Accords and bring peace to Ukraine
  • Solidarity with people of the Lugansk and Donetsk Republics
  • End the far right reign of terror in Ukraine!
  • Down with the Kiev puppet government!
  • Solidarity with anti-fascists in Ukraine
Join us on Thursday 28 July, 5.30-7pm.
