British Gov′t Handling of Economic Crisis Criticized

Pyongyang, September 13 (KCNA) -- The general secretary of Britain's Trades Union Congress (TUC) Monday pointed the way to a coming year of industrial discontent as the country faces up to low growth, government cutbacks and high inflation, according to a media report

Brendan Barber at a conference in London said, "Last month, as our cities burned amidst the worst rioting in decades, social divisions in modern Britain were laid bare -- what happened in August actually revealed deep fractures within our society".

"Our economy continues to be ravaged by the consequences of the gravest global financial crisis any of us have ever seen, and we have a government locked into policies that are making things worse not better," he said.-0-
