Report of CPGBM-L Meeting Eye witness from Libya

I attended the CPGBML public meeting "Eyewitness from Libya" . It was very well attended with about 50 people or more than there . There were a lot of young people in the audience and a range of different backgrounds . The Libyan Green Flag was displayed along with the CPGBML party flag and Palestinian flag. The meeting began late because the main speaker Harpal Bar was late . The meeting was chaired by Ella Rule and the third speaker was Dave Roberts.

Harpal Brar stated that most people in Libya supported Col Gadhafi quite wnthusiastically in fact he was loved by the people. The capital Tripoli was quite peaceful . People were going about their business . It was a lie that that Col Gadhafi's government had bombed Tripoli. There was lots of food on sale in the markets.
Both Brar and Ella Rule stressed the achievements of the Libyan Peoples' Socialist Arab Jamiyhria . For example , people have free housing(like the DPRK )and there is a really high educational level.
All three speakers stressed the system of participatory democracy in Libya with the General Peoples Congress and people's committees . One reference was made to the
"Green charter" but nothing was said about the Green book and the "Third Universal Theory". Dave Roberts tore to shreds many of the false claims made by the imperialist media. He explained that the so called "rebels" are actually a diverse and non cohesive group of armed gangs held together by NATO power. The groups include Islamic fundamentalists, criminals , Monarchists and CIA and MI6 agents . The rebels had fought amongst themselves and bombed each other. They had also committed atrocities such as decapitating people . Without NATO support the rebels would be useless and would have been defeated.
Harpal Brar attacked the fake Left for their attitude . He exposed the STWC who wanted Gadhafi's overthrow. Harpal said such groups are "air raid shelters for imperialism" . He said John Rees and Andrew Murray were the "sophisticated agents of imperialism" . Sadly the CPGBML never said Labourite ex MEP Glyn Ford who slandered the DPRK 2 years was a "sophisticated agent of imperialism" but instead at the time chose perversely to criticise the real defenders of the DPRK . Harpal also made a strange comment about a revolution would actually reduce the living standard of the people.
Despite these minor criticisms it was a good meeting and credit where credit is due to the CPGBML for organising the meeting .
