Any Illusion and Fear of U.S. Imperialists Lead to Death: Rodong Sinmun

Pyongyang, October 18 (KCNA) -- If a nation harbors illusion about the U.S. imperialists, taken in by honeyed words of "peace" and "cooperation", and trembles for fear of their horror strategy, it will be bound to become slaves and meet death, much less achieving independent development.
Rodong Sinmun on Thursday says this in a bylined article.
U.S. imperialism is by no means something to be frightened at, the article notes, and goes on:
The Korean war, the Vietnamese war, etc. in the last century proved that if the leadership, army and people get united single-mindedly and wage a staunch fight against the U.S. imperialists, they can surely defeat them and defend the national sovereignty and dignity.
However, the people who underwent tragedy failed to believe in their strength.
After the demise of the Cold War, those people were cheated by the plausible propaganda of the U.S. imperialists or were afraid of their nuclear blackmail and, accordingly, they failed to properly see through their true colors.
So, they accepted the American-style "view of value" under the pressure of the U.S. imperialists. They carried out "reforms" and "opened" their countries to the U.S. in political, economic, military and other fields.
Those countries suffered disasters in return for meeting the requirements of the U.S. imperialists. They brought these countries nothing but humiliation, disgrace, internal disorder and disputes.
What was more serious was that the army which should defend the security of the country and the people wavered.
Armies of those countries could not prevent their governments from collapsing under their very noses.
When the U.S. imperialists started invasion, service members of a certain country dropped their arms and fled the invaders.
This was the miserable fate of those countries which harbored illusion and fear of the U.S. imperialists.
In order to counter the U.S. imperialists' "appeasement" strategy with a revolutionary principle and independent one against imperialism and react to hard-line actions with the toughest stand it is essential not to have even the slightest illusion and fear of them.
Only when a country or nation achieves the unity of the leadership, army and people and bolster the capacity for self-defence, foiling the U.S. imperialists' ideological and cultural poisoning and psychological warfare, is it possible to be free from any illusion and fear of them and protect the sovereignty of the country and national dignity. -0-

U.S. Strategy on Afghanistan in Fiasco

A recent issue of the New York Times said the U.S. strategy on Afghanistan proved unsuccessful. It went on: During Obama's term of office the present U.S. Administration directed its utmost diplomatic efforts and sent many troops to Afghanistan, but failed to conclude a peace agreement with the armed forces. The U.S. should give up its expectation for peace agreement. The combatants of Islamic organizations still remain a grave threat.

As is known, the U.S. launched a war against terrorism 10 years ago, encouraged by the September 11 incident.

A little over 10 days after its attack, the U.S. conquered Afghanistan and thus realized its domination over a point of strategic importance.

But the U.S. strategy faced a new challenge.

The local armed resistance forces attacked the U.S.-led NATO forces without let-up.

The U.S.-led allied forces have conducted military operations for over 10 years, only worsening the situation.

Now Afghanistan witnesses the vicious cycle of terror and retaliation and scenes of bloodshed almost every day.

On the other hand, the anti-U.S. resistance forces' ability of military action is increasing as the days go by and their influence in the country is growing in scope.

To make matters worse, the Afghan soldiers and police trained by the U.S. are attacking the U.S. forces ceaselessly.

Over the past 11 years of the Afghan war more than 2 000 GIs and over 1 000 troops of the allied forces have been killed by the armed attack of the resistance forces.

For the U.S. to continue the Afghan war is as good as a nightmare.

The long-drawn war has brought about unprecedented financial and economic crisis in the U.S.

The U.S. spent 51 billion US$ for the Afghan war in 2009 alone.

With the Afghan war protracted, the U.S. spends more funds, deteriorating its debt crisis and financial crisis and leading its economy to bankruptcy.

To continue pouring money into the Afghan war is to draw water with a sieve.

Needless to say, the U.S. completely failed in Afghanistan.

The reality shows that the defeat of the U.S. in Afghanistan is inevitable and the time came to an end when the U.S. swaggered with too much confidence in itself.

However, international law does not have any provision allowing killing of civilians after trespassing on the border of any other country which is not a belligerent party. The hypocrisy of such high-precision surgical attack has already been disclosed. The U.S. has employed such human scum crazy for moneymaking for leading drone attacks to "precision ones." Its agents are forcing those informers to install infrared devices at civilian houses in return for money. A Pakistani boy confessed in April 2009 that he was paid for placing an infrared device at a house which had nothing to do with terrorism. All facts go to prove that the U.S.-led "war on terrorism" is nothing but operations which seriously abuse the human rights. The U.S. "war on terrorism" by drones is the height of barbarity. FOUNDATION STATEMENT OF THE INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE FOR THE RELEASE OF MR RO SU HUI
We are founding this international committee for the release of Mr Ro Su Hui because we are deeply shocked by unjust and repressive treatment meted out to him by south Korean authorities . Mr Ro Su Hui vice-chairman of the south side headquarters of the Pan-National Alliance for Korea's Reunification was arrested, on the 5th of July, as he stepped into south Korea after visiting the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
                              Mr Ro was arrested and detained by the south Korean fascist puppets under the so-called "National Security Law" of south Korea. The NSL punishes south Korean people for visiting north Korea or sympathising with it in anyway. The NSL is  fascist and a throwback to a by-gone era. The NSL is very much reminiscent of Nazi Germany , 1950s McCarthyite America and Apartheid south Korea. The NSL is also  a block to inter-Korean relations, reconciliation and  and reunification.
                     Mr Ro has committed no crime whatsoever. He simply visited one part of his own country which has been artificially divided by outside forces (chiefly US imperialism).  We ask why is the south Korean regime so afraid of its people visiting the Democratic People's Republic of Korea ?.

Our demands are simple and straightforward - the unconditional release of Mr Ro Su Hui and the dropping of any charges against him.

Our committee will do what it can to raise the international profile of this horrendous  case and exposes the real human rights abuses on the Korean peninsula.

Some time ago, a U.S. Marine Corps soldier in Okinawa raped a Japanese woman in her forties at a roadside and ran away.

What a dirty crime it is!

His barbarous act is triggering off the resentment of the Japanese public.

The trampling down of the dignity and honor of a woman shows the inability of Japan to protect the human rights of its women.

That may well be for Japan that serves the U.S. as its master.

The U.S. is so noisily crying about human rights.

But, its soldiers are engrossed in immoral acts even in other countries.

The U.S. should, above all, give education on human rights and morality to its soldiers.

Pyongyang, September 7 (KCNA) -- Progressive countries of the world should heighten vigilance against the imperialists' reactionary ideological and cultural poisoning and psychological warfare against their young people. Rodong Sinmun Friday urges this in a bylined article.
It says:
The reactionary ideological and cultural poisoning and psychological warfare are means for aggression and interference and a vicious destabilizing method.
The imperialists are intensifying the poisoning operation by using all channels under the pretext of "cooperation" and "exchange", asserting that reactionary ideology and culture can be as effective as military capability in realizing their hegemonic ambition.
A new characteristic feature in the imperialists' destabilizing strategy, reactionary ideological and cultural poisoning and psychological warfare is that they mainly target young people unlike the past when it was focused on the mental degeneration of ordinary people.
Cites facts to prove it, the article goes on:
Imperialists run the whole gamut of intrigues to benumb youngsters, taking advantage of their mental characteristics. It is by no means fortuitous that they craftily take into consideration the fact that not a few young people are more interested in pop music and amusement than politics, drastically increase the number of amusement programs in broadcasting for young people and include between them programs propagandizing "advantages" of capitalist system, etc.
Because, it is their view that young people played not a small role in bringing about "Egyptian-style change" and "Libyan-style victory" in some countries.

Syrian “Regime Change”: Washington’s Latest “War Crime” in the Name of the “Freedom, Democracy, Human rights”

One wonders what Syrians are thinking as “rebels” vowing to “free Syria” take the country down the same road to destruction as “rebels” in Libya.

Libya, under Gaddafi a well run country whose oil revenues were shared with the Libyan people instead of monopolized by a princely class as in Saudi Arabia, now has no government and is in disarray with contending factions vying for power.

Just as no one knew who the Libyan “rebels” were, with elements of al Qaeda reportedly among them, no one knows who the Syrian “rebels” are, or indeed if they are even rebels (Antiwar.com).

Some “rebels” appear to be bandit groups who seize the opportunity to loot and to rape and set themselves up as the governments of villages and towns.

Others appear to be al Qaeda. (Antiwar.com)

The fact that the “rebels” are armed is an indication of interference from outside.

There have been reports that Washington has ordered its Saudi and Bahrain puppet governments to supply the “rebels” with military weaponry.

Some suspect that the explosion that killed the Syrian Defense Minister and the head of the government’s crisis operations was not the work of a suicide bomber but the work of a US drone or missile reminiscent of Washington’s failed attempts to murder Saddam Hussein.

Regardless, Washington regarded the terror attack as a success, declaring that it showed the rebels were gaining “real momentum” and called on the Syrian government to respond to the attack by resigning. (reuters.com)

The following is from a leaked intelligence document describing a previous Western terrorist intervention in Syria just in case any reader is so naive as to think that “our government would never do that.”

“In order to facilitate the action of liberative (sic) forces, …a special effort should be made to eliminate certain key individuals. …[to] be accomplished early in the course of the uprising and intervention, …

Once a political decision has been reached to proceed with internal disturbances in Syria, CIA is prepared, and SIS (MI6) will attempt to mount minor sabotage and coup de main (sic) incidents within Syria, working through contacts with individuals. …Incidents should not be concentrated in Damascus …

Further: a “necessary degree of fear .. frontier incidents and (staged) border clashes”, would “provide a pretext for intervention… the CIA and SIS [MI6] should use … capabilities in both psychological and action fields to augment tension.” (Joint US-UK leaked Intelligence Document, London and Washington, 1957) (globalreasearch.ca)

Obama has not said why his government is so desperate to overthrow the Syrian government.

The current president was an eye doctor in London who was brought back to Syria to replace his father, who had passed away, as president of the country.

Washington is reticent about its real motives, which it masks with high-sounding humanitarian rhetoric, but Washington’s motives are transparent.

One motive is to get rid of the Russian naval base in Syria, thus depriving Russia of its only Mediterranean base.

A second motive is to eliminate Syria as a source of arms and support to Hizbullah in order that Israel can succeed in its attempts to occupy southern Lebanon and acquire its water resources.

Hizbullah’s fighters have twice defeated the Israeli military’s attempts to invade and to occupy southern Lebanon.

A third motive is to destroy the unity of Syria with sectarian conflict, as Washington destroyed Libya and Iraq, and leave Syria to waring factions to dismember the country, thus removing another obstacle to Washington’s hegemony.

Syria, a secular Arab state, like Iraq was, is ruled by a political party composed of Alawis, more or less Shia Muslims.

The Alawis comprise about 12% of the Syrian population and are regarded as heretics by the Sunni Muslims who comprise about 74% of the Syrian population.

Thus the orchestrated “uprising” appeals to many Sunnis who see the opportunity to take over. (In Iraq it was a Sunni minority that ruled a Shia majority, and in Syria it is the opposite.)

The divisions among Arabs make Arabs vulnerable to Western interference and rule.

The Sunni-Shia split makes it impossible for an Arab country to unite against an invader or for one Arab country to come to the aid of another.

In 1990 the Shia Syrian government lined up with the US against the Sunni Iraq government in the First Iraq War.

Neither Lawrence of Arabia, Nasser, nor Gaddafi succeeded in creating an Arab consciousness.

Washington’s cover for its violent overthrow of other governments is always moralistic verbiage.

First the target is demonized, and then Washington’s naked aggression is described as “bringing freedom and democracy,” “overthrowing a brutal dictator,” “protecting women’s rights.”

Any assortment of cant words and phrases seems to work.

Hillary Clinton has been especially strident in advocating the overthrow of the Syrian government.

The silly woman even issued threats to Russia and China for daring to block Washington’s attempt to use a UN resolution as cover for invading Syria.

Washington misrepresents the Syrian government’s resistance to being overthrown as a government conducting terror against its own people.

But Washington had no condemnation for the terror attack, whether its own or that of a suicide bomber, that killed high-level Syrian government officials.

Washington’s double standard prompted the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, to accuse Washington of having “a sinister position.”

Indeed, Washington does.

But what is surprising about Washington’s sinister position after Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Somalia, Yemen, and Pakistan?

Undoubtedly, after Syria is overthrown, Washington will move on to Iran.

Russia itself is already being surrounded by US missile bases, and the Russian government has a disloyal and traitorous political opposition financed by American money.

China is confronting a rapid buildup of US air, naval, and troop bases in the Pacific.

How long before China’s government has a disloyal opposition financed by Washington?

The hegemon is on the march, but what Syrian Sunnis see is a chance to overthrow the Alawite Shia.

The Syrian Sunnis will ally with Washington despite the fact that Washington overthrew the Iraqi Sunnis.

Few Arabs, it seems, mind being puppets of a foreign regime that hands out billions of dollars.

Washington loosely refers to Syrian President Assad as a “dictator” or “brutal dictator,” but obviously if Assad is a dictator he is not very effective in that role.

Normally, dictators don’t permit an opposition to rise, much less arm itself.

It would be more accurate to say that the ruling party is authoritarian, but the ruling party has introduced elements of democracy with the new constitution.

As Iraq has proved, Arab governments have to be authoritarian if their Sunni and Shia populations are not to be constantly engaged in civil war.

Both Bush and Obama claim that Washington brought “freedom and democracy” to Iraq.

However, the ongoing violence in Iraq is as intense or more intense than under the American occupation.

Here are the reports for the last three days:

July 23: “A wave of bomb attacks and shootings in Baghdad and north of the capital has killed at least 107 people. At least 216 were wounded.”

July 24: “A second day of intensified attacks left at least 145 Iraqis killed and 379 more wounded.”

July 25: “Attacks continue across Iraq: 17 killed, 60 wounded.”

This is what Washington did for Iraq.

Far from bringing “freedom and democracy,” Washington brought endless mayhem and death.

And this is precisely what Washington is in the process of bringing to Syria.
