In the published Korean Central News Agency statement, Sun said the DPRK that the DPRK will no longer considers itself bound by the Armistice Agreement in Korea and the relevant inter-Korean agreement on mutual non-aggression. It will use its power of self-defense in accordance with its decisions, including the nuclear deterrent force.
In addition, during the US-South Korean joint military exercises, the DPRK would suspend all military dialogue with the United States and the Republic of Korea .

STATEMENT BY THE ALL-UNION COMMUNIST PARTY OF BOLSHEVIKS

Menacing U.S. imperialism has made remarkable efforts to ignite the flames of war on the Korean peninsula and to destroy the freedom-loving, independent and courageous people of the DPRK, successfully building their own prosperous socialist state.

CC AUCPB Statement

Our party fully agrees with the judgements of the General Staff of the KPA and the NDC of the DPRK on the culprits of an explosive situation, which has re-emerged on the Korean peninsula. We fully support the DPRK's steps taken to defendt the independence and sovereignty of their country. Americans probably have forgotten the lessons of the Great Fatherland Liberation War 1950-1953 and try again to embark on a dangerous adventure – to "test" the strength of the socialist system, the monolithic unity of the DPRK people around their political party leadership, which, unlike the former leadership of the CPSU - USSR, which surrendered the country and the people to the enemy, the close-knit unity with the heroic people will do everything to defend the honour, freedom and independence of the DPRK.
An attempt by the U.S. to unleash a war against North Korea could trigger the beginning of a third world war and the inevitable downfall of civilization. The financial movers of the US are trying to save agonizing imperialism, via the outbreak of another world war, ignoring the fact that while no one can escape – there will be no winners!
We call upon world public opinion, the working people of all countries to act decisively against another criminal adventure by the ruling elite of the U.S. and those governments that are allied with the United States who are acting against their own people.
This, alas, includes the Government of Russia.

EDL fascists attack For Bolshevism editor

Comrade Kevin Cain, the editor of For Bolshevism and leader of the ForBolshevismAUCPB (and also Organisation Secretary of UK KFA ) was subjected to an unprovoked and clearly targetted attack by a thug of the "EDL".Luckily comrade Cain suffered no injuries and was unscathed by the attack.
This occurred at a protest demonstration against the EDL march through
central London.
The attack shows that behind the veil of anti Islamism and "patriotism"
the EDL are a fascist group that attack communists and are thugs and criminals.

No 3 (84) MARCH 2010

DEFEND COMRADES FROM THE ARBITRARINESS OF THE BOURGEOISIE!
Comrades! At a time when the workers are just beginning to organize for the fight for their fundamental interests, the bourgeoisie, confident of impunity for their actions, continue to brazenly attack the rights of workers. Seeing the increasing activity of protest activity of workers, and realizing that in a bourgeois state, money can buy everything – including courts, the representatives of major capital decided to strangle in its infancy, not only all sorts of attempts by workers to defend their rights, but also being able to talk and know the truth.
For already more than half a year has been continuing the trial of the worker, Chairman of the Kirovograd Regional organization of the VSR workers’ union Valery Kovalenko. For an attempt to organize a protest at a factory and distributing leaflets, the owner of the company "Red Star" P. Shtutman filed a lawsuit against this worker for 50 thousand UAH, stating that the distributed leaflets had lies written about the true state of affairs at the plant, and that this information brought material loss to the company.
A similar situation is unfolding at the Kherson machine works. The owner of the plant Oleinik, earlier illegally sacking several hundred people, filed a lawsuit against worker-activist and chairman of the labour collective of the KMW Leonid Nemchonka also accusing him of libel. The fact is that during the press conference dealing with problems at the plant, Leonid Nemchonok quoted the boss talking about impending reductions in the total labour collective and the elimination of the enterprise. Then, under the pressure of workers' actions (the occupying of the plant, rallies, protests, etc.), Oleinik was forced to make concessions and re-employ about 200 people. Now he argues that, speaking about the impending cuts in the labour force, Nemchonok slandered him. And now bourgeois Oleinik is demending from the worker via the court, compensation amounting to 40 thousand UAH and a public apology.
Comrades! We must stop attempts at judicial reprisals against worker-activists who had the courage to confront the owners of factories. This is not simply in order to protect Kovalenko and Nemchonka, it is necessary in order to prevent such actions of the bourgeoisie in the future in relation to other workers.
Only together can we stop the brazen attack by the capitalists!
We call on all progressive organizations, activists and honest people to take part in the campaign of solidarity with Valery Kovalenko and Leonid Nemchonkom.
From the newspaper "The working class” № 44 (483), November 2009

WHAT IS MORE HIGHLY SCIENTIFIC: A HOOD OR A GASMASK?

I am holding a newspaper "2000" (of the “Derzhava” bloc” № 40 (479)). Two articles on the same strip (B6): "Code of Criminal Procedure as a means of inquiry," tells the story of how a detainee was beaten on the head by a CCP booklet in one of the Odessa district police departments, after which he was again beaten (?), and the man confessed. And the second article, "In the grip of democracy" - on torture in U.S. prisons, applied to Islamic terrorists, about "highly scientific and humane torture" perpetrated by the American followers of the SS and Gestapo, since Hitler's Germany: putting on his head a "hood" or "package" or "bag", forcing prisoners to wear diapers and sleep deprivation, eating, etc. Overall - a very ugly picture!
But if you examine all the whole B6 column of the newspaper, in "Derzhava" the impression that it is only the "bad guys" of the Ukrainian police that beat detainees on the head with books, and the "very bad guys" from the CIA and the FBI ... are simply beasts! Many people noticed that the domestic media very modestly describe the whole nightmare that is happening in the dungeons of our enforcement structures. As a rule, journalists separate phrases: "were beaten up", "were beaten on the head", etc. And they never describe in detail what happens to a person held in a police department after his arrest.
I shall breach that criminal modesty and describe what happened to me and my party comrades-accomplice s in a criminal case stitched by the "light" hand of this brutalized country.
I was detained in the evening of Dec. 15, 2002, when I was calmly walking to meet my wife from work. From out of an ordinary "Devyatka" (car) jumped out hefty masked up "Alpha" riot cops and twisted my hands behind my back, simultaneously, my head bent almost to the ground. My spectacles and hat flew onto the Odessa frozen asphalt. They did not throw me onto the ground. Together with the cops, out of the car jumped a well-groomed little man in a mink hat. He slowed down the “Alphas" and so to speak, saved me from the usual violence, which we often see on TV: people lying on the ground face down with hands behind their backs and the riot cops standing over them using their feet to press down the backs and heads of the people lying down.
By the way, there is no operational need for such a procedure for arrest. It's just the normal start of torture - the operation to break down the human will and resistance, humiliation, and preparation for future interrogation.
Thus, the little man in the mink hat saved me from this procedure. But after, everything went along as is in such cases with everyone.
They pulled a black knitted cap over my head and eyes, immediately depriving me the possibility to orient in space and breathe normally, then bundled me into the "Devytka". Again, there was no operational need to hide my face or to stop me seeing where the car was going. I know my home town well, and easily counting the turns and traffic lights, I realized that I was being taken to the USBU (Police Headquarters) of Odessa Region.
I was taken along the inner courtyard and corridors of the monumental building of the SBU, with the cap covering my eyes and handcuffed, occasionally being deliberately bumped into the corners and the door jambs of the building. Again, there was no operational necessity for all these dirty tricks, but psychologically, like any other person falling into their hands, it was necessary for them to break me down and show me that I was helpless and handicapped.
By now, already in the room, after the search and seizure of my belt and laces (also a subtle form of mockery - try walking in trousers falling down and boots falling off, and more-so even when ones hands are handcuffed behind your back!) I was shown a photograph of a beaten, tortured, covered in blood comrade of mine, who was detained two days earlier in Nikolayev. With "kind" smiles, I was told that the same thing would happen, if I did not give the necessary evidence to these non-humans! After that, sad solitary confinement awaited me.
And the next day – the same thing over again - the hat over the eyes, hands in cuffs behind my back. The next stage was to be in Nikolayev. But I did not know this! I was led into the yard and of the SBU and placed like a sack of potatoes, face down, between the seats of a minibus. An "Alpha" sat on a seat and put his feet on me. I guess that was to stop me escaping! Judging from their voices, there were several "Alphas", and they had a lively debate about how they will get nothing out of me, and should be taken to the irrigation fields (there is a marshy place around Odessa near Hadzhibeevskogo Estuary) and shot.
A person with weak nerves, probably, after such threats would have panicked, broken down and began to beg for mercy. But I, at that time, stopped caring. Then came the 2 hour physical torture - lying face down between the seats with hands behind my back and a knitted cap over my face! The awkward position and lack of air had done its work. I started having a heart attack. These Polizei placed me in a normal upright position on the seat of the minibus only after they realized that they would not have driven me away alive. However, no hat over the face or handcuffs were removed. What a "humane", "civilized", "highly scientific" torture!
What is interesting, throughout the journey, these warriors-guards almost all the time were calling by mobile phones some girls, and agreeing about an evening of going to the sauna, having sex and drinking. I was so surprised to hear this then. But later I learned that such talk about sex and vodka and champagne is carried out by the so-called law enforcers for all detainees! So refined, is it not?
You lie there, suffocating, in handcuffs, you were just about to be shot, you do not know where you are been taken, and whether or not you will someday see your wife and mother again – your fate in a complete fog, and then alongside you – you hear about the reckless life of the masters of the situation - vodka, the sauna and female affection ...
Perhaps, this psychological trick makes a shocking impression on many people - they break down, begin to give evidence and to do everything possible to escape from this hell and return to normal life. But this is always self-deception!
After this "jolly exciting" stage I am immediately led to an SBU investigator - Kovalenko. And with a hideous smile I am immediately told that I have relatives that will never see again. Such "news", he has told my wife - saying, that you longer have a husband, and so you can start to look for a lover. And then, shyly casting his little eyes down, Major Kovalenko as a male-satisfactory proposed my wife for himself. What does one call all of this? Torture? Bullying? What is the degree of their "highly scientificness" ? Are there any detailed instructions on carrying out such activities with detainees?
There are many more questions than answers.
But this is only the start of what I described as the "civilized" and "humane" way of torturers, which is how almost every prisoner of the Ukrainian law enforcement system is dealt with.
However, there is sometimes another way of beginning this process.
I was lucky. My comrades detained in the city of Nikolayev on 13.12.2002, were much less fortunate. After they were detained, the "Alpha" men they were immediately taken to the Leninsky ROVD district police department in Nikolayev. What went on in there is very hard for the ordinary law-abiding person man in the street to believe.
Igor Danilov, Oleg Alexeyev, Sergei Berdyugin and Nina Polsky were tortured for more than 3 days. "Tortured" - in the medieval sense of the word, and not in the "humane" – American sense!
Igor Danilov spent three days naked in a cold room without sleep or food. But he did not feel the cold and hunger suspended on scrap metal, lowered down on bent knees and handcuffed. His genitals was periodically connected to a electric current and subjected to electric shock. His head was covered by a gas mask, the air pipe squeezed shut, and then opening it, cotton wool soaked in ammonia brought to the opening of it. He vomited straight into the mask. He repeatedly urinated under the pain of the electric shock torture. Needles were driven under his nail (yes, you heard right!). The executioners - employees of the police department sometimes took a rest from their "work" - Igor Danilov was removed from the scrap metal and thrown naked into a corner of the room. Clothes were not given. He was deprived of sleep. When the executioners- butchers saw that he fell asleep despite the cold, he was beaten, they jumped down on his chest and hands that were still in handcuffs. The result of this "highly scientific" treatment - pleurisy from inhalation of ammoniac vapour, and 7 broken ribs, fragments of which punctured the lungs, wrists chopped to the bone by the handcuffs and terrible dystrophy.
The worst thing was that these freaks in uniform did not hide their actions. Doctors ere allowed in to carry out a medical examination of Igor Danilov. And the doctors (and we need to give them their due), recorded all injuries honestly. These certificates are stored in the volumes of the criminal case (vol .9, p. 161-169-171) . But the court did not pay any attention to this dreadful evidence of torture!
Something similar was carried out on Oleg Alexeyev by police pigs. He himself had to knock out an eye with a pen, and only then, the torture stopped. Sergei Berdyugin died in an Odessa prison cell on 11.01.2003, from the rupture of his liver, which occurred as a result of beatings in a fascist police department. Nina Polsky, a 16-year-old girl, was told she would be raped by the entire district police department, if she refused to confess.
Drobot, the head of the Leninsky district police department in Nikolaev, participated in all these torture orgies, then afterwards, he also a wrote a reply in response to questions regarding this matter from the prosecutor: "Facts concerning complaints of torture have not been confirmed."
The Prosecutors remained calm, the court - too. And the medical report screaming of torture, judge Topolev simply "did not notice”.
It is in the Leninsky district police department in Nikolaev, that the executioners- butchers told Danilov, that the Gestapo and the SS in comparison with them - are children!
All this happened in 2002-2003, during president Kuchma’s rule. Under President Yushchenko nothing has changed, just as no change has taken place with any other president in this power structure, safeguarding the existing system of social relations. And do not be fooled into thinking that these facts - are crimes of separate individual "bad cops" (a few bad apples). No, this system – is a well-oiled mechanism designed to suppress and intimidate the people. The majority of Ukrainian prisoners have passed through torture and humiliation of varying severity. Which social class do they belong to? - All of them belong to the poorest. That's well known to everyone. Millionaires and state officials, are sent to prison in extremely rare cases. They, in this country, have bought a "license" to arbitrariness and impunity!
Therefore, there is no need to describe the diapers and hoods in American prisons. In Ukraine, there is more than enough of this!

But one thing is encouraging - soon the patience of the most patient people in the world will run out, and all these "law enforcers, judges, prosecutors, officials, etc. will be where they belong – hanging from the lampposts.
History has shown this. And everything is being repeated.

Andrei Yakovenko, political prisoner

DEFEAT THE NEO-FASCIST NATIONAL BANDERITE FORCES
The first round of presidential elections in Ukraine is over.
As expected, in the second round, representatives of major capital V. Yanukovych (scored 35.32% of the vote, according to preliminary information by the CEC having worked through 100% electronic protocols by the evening of 19.01.) and Yulia Timoshenko (25.05%).
The next three places were taken by S. Tigipko (13.06%), Yatsenyuk (6.9%) and Yushchenko (5.4%).
The current president of Ukraine (Yushchenko) , having taken fifth place, is now descending from the heights of the Ukrainian political Olympus. Occupying fifth place, the current "guarantor of the Constitution" has showed the complete failure of his anti-people anti-national, anti-Ukrainian policy pursued by him over the last 5 years.
(The following took their places: P. Simonenko - 3.55%, Vladimir Litvin - 2,35%, O. Tyahnybok - 1,43%, Gritsenko - 1,2%, and other 9 candidates gained less than one percent of the vote. 2,2% of the electorate voted against. The turnout was 66,7%, significantly lower than in previous presidential elections).
Leaders in the costs of their election campaign spent the following money: V. Yanukovych and Tymoshenko. Each of them has spent approximately $ 200 million. The total amount spent on the current election campaign, according to the Committee of Voters of Ukraine, in the first round was about $ 800 million with half of that amount spent on the two favorites in the race, Yanukovych and Tymoshenko. Behind them on the scale of costs were followed by A. Yatsenyuk -$ 125 million, S. Tigipko - $ 100 million, and Vladimir Litvin - 90 million.
This confirms our conclusion that the Ukrainian president is chosen by big business and that workers, no matter who becomes president, will continue to be subjected to ruthless exploitation and oppression.
Yanukovych and Timoshenko represent the interests of the two competing clans of the big bourgeoisie and all their promises to combat poverty, to care about the interests of the people, etc. etc., are nothing more than pre-election verbal tinsel, which they will immediately forget, sitting in the coveted presidential seat.
On the side of Yanukovych – are the largest oligarchs, especially the eastern regions of Ukraine. Akhmetov is the richest man in Ukraine (according to the magazine "Focus", for March 2009, the wealth of R. Akhmetov was estimated at 3.68 billion dollars. And he remained the richest man in Ukraine, despite the loss of approximately 10 billion dollars of his pre-crisis wealth); A. and S. Klyuev (356.8 million dollars), B. Khmelnitsky (246.8 million dollars), B. Landyk (195 million), B. Kolesnikov (189.7 million), G. Skudar (120 million), N. Jankowski (83.8 million), B. Horbal (65.2 million) and others, including, according to many political scientists , provide financial support for Viktor Yanukovych, and Dm. Firtash (626.7 million). It is clear that these gentlemen (and there are only the richest of the sponsors of the party of the regions) found no difficulty in providing $ 200 million in support of their candidate.
No less rich sponsors are those of Yulia Timoshenko who hypocritically proclaims that she is fighting against the power of the oligarchs. Namely: K. Zhevago (969,8 million dollars, 5 th in the list of the richest people of Ukraine as of March 2009 according to the magazine "Focus"); V. Haiduk (704.3 million), S. Taruta (673.8 million). T. Vasadze (290.7 million), S. and A. Buriak (194.9 million), and others. Ally to Yulia Timoshenko, VA is Medvedchuk (120.6 million), former head of the Kuchma Presidential Administration. Despite the controversy that arose, many experts believe that some financial support to Yulia Timoshenko has also been given by I. Kolomoysky (2 billion 294 million dollars, the 3rd richest man in Ukraine). So Mrs Tymoshenko is not constrained in the money, just like her competitor. (Of course, it should be borne in mind that many oligarchs provided and support not only their main candidate, but also the so-called technical ones who as previously understood, did not have any chances in reaching the second round, but showed a more or less satisfactory result. It is possible that some oligarchs also assist the two race favorites at the same time, to enlist the support to any of them, no matter who won.).
From this standpoint, our position taken in the first round of elections, was namely, not to take part in these elections, because they do not express the will of the working people of Ukraine, and will further strengthen the power of major capital, no matter who was the winner of the presidential race, and is absolutely correct.

But the second round of the situation began to change.
Even before the first round, eight so-called national-democratic forces, namely, the People's Rukh of Ukraine Boris Tarasyuk, "People's Self-Defense" Yuriy Lutsenko, the Christian Democratic Union, V. Stretovych and similar right-wing and extreme right-wing parties, expressed support in the presidential election for "a single candidate from the democratic forces Yulia Tymoshenko. Workers in Ukraine are well aware that the Democrats are hiding under the guise of the heirs of the Banderites - toadies of the German fascists, traitors, enemies and executioners of the Ukrainian people. It is clear that Tymoshenko will be supported by many voters who voted for Yushchenko (despite the very acute contradictions between Tymoshenko and Yushchenko), O. Tyahnybok, in many ways - Yatsenyuk and Gritsenko. But voters of O. Tyahnybok, are people who vote for the establishment of a Ukrainian neo-fascist order. Of course, the goal of all true patriots of Ukraine - is not to allow to leave in power these orange-Banderite forces, - replacing only leader – i.e. instead of Yushchenko will be Tymoshenko. Moreover, in the midst of the presidential election campaign Yulia Timoshenko set a higher pension for Yuri Shukhevych, the son of Roman Shukhevych, Abwehr officer, commander of the nationalist Banderite UPA (Ukrainian Insurgency Army) which was formed and nurtured by the Nazis. This gesture of Yulia Timoshenko has clearly demonstrated that she will continue (perhaps not in such an open form) to carry out, if elected, the president of Ukraine, the same nationalistic and pro-banderite policy of Yushchenko.

Therefore, we call on all honest people of Ukraine - to take part in the second round on February 7 and vote against Tymoshenko.

It is clear that the vote against Yulia Timoshenko means that we are forced to vote for Yanukovych, a representative of major predatory capital. But, at least, the openly nationalistic pro-banderite policy in Ukraine will be eliminated. There will not be such opposition and smashing of heads btween the working people of western and eastern regions, Catholics and Orthodox Christians, believers and atheists. (Of course, when big business sees that his government faces a real threat, he will do everything possible, including attracting neo-banderitesd to his side to get them to suppress the working class. But to do so, it will be more complicated for the Yanukovich clan representatives to do. Tymoshenko is interwoven with these forces, it they are her natural allies.).
The working class, working people in all regions of Ukraine could then combine their efforts and rise to the decisive struggle for the abolition of the power of capital and the return of their workers’ and peasants’ Soviet power, for the restoration of socialism and the rebirth of the Soviet Union.

A. MAYEVSKY, secretary of the CC AUCPB

CONGRATULATIONS
We congratulate our glorious veterans, all fighters for the revival of the USSR, on the 92-th anniversary of the Soviet Army and Navy. The Workers' and Peasants' Red Army and the Workers'and Peasants' Red Fleet were formed by decision of V.I. Lenin, in the stormy days of February 1918
Since then, the Soviet Armed Forces, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Lenin, vigilantly stood guard over the achievements of the Great October Socialist Revolution, made a decisive contribution to the defeat of fascism and the liberation of the peoples of occupied Europe from Nazi slavery, and for more than 4 decades after the Great Patriotic War and World War II provided preservation of peace throughout the world.
Currently, the Armed Forces of Russia are a pale shadow of its former might of the Soviet Armed Forces. And the so-called Armed Forces of Ukraine under the leadership of the incompetent Orange Supreme Commander and his predecessors, have been made completely unfit for battle conditions.
However, we do not doubt that the invaluable experience of building the mighty Soviet armed forces and the experience of the invincible Soviet Red Army will necessarily be in demand in the course of the rising class battles.

During the celebration of 130 anniversary of the birth of J.V. Stalin, many party organizations of the AUCPB held scientific-practica l conferences in connection with this date. In her greeting to the organizers and participants of the Moscow conference, held annually by the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the AUCPB, N.A. Andreeva underlined "the relevance of the conference on the “Collectivization in the USSR", the importance for an understanding by our contemporaries of the difficult processes of becoming a socialist country under conditions of acute class struggle, and the importance of recognizing by all of us of the deep understanding of Stalin's urgent and pressing need to address them as soon as possible as the greatest issue of any state – the country’s food security - through the collectivization of agricultural production under conditions of socialist ownership, as well as the correctness and optimal use of the ways to solve this most complex problem in the specific historical circumstances.

THE BOOK THAT SHARED THE FATE OF STALIN
"A Short Course of the History of the CPSU (b)”

Perhaps, there was not during the years of Soviet power and the Communist Party a book, which would have left such a mark on the life of the party, which the "Short Course of the history of the CPSU (b)” left. And not only in the life of our party, but in the world communist movement, the fate of Communists of the whole world.
Only the "Communist Manifesto", released earlier in the century, can be compared with the "Short Course"... The book, is equal to what was left by Stalin. And the fate of them both ( "Short Course" and Stalin) were largely similar.

"The new powerful ideological weapon of Bolshevism"
The book was published on October 1, 1938 under the editorship of the Central Committee of the Commission of the CC AUCPB (CPSU (b)) and approved by the Central Committee.
In the Resolution of the Central Committee of the CPSU (b) of 14.11.1938 "On the formulation of party propaganda in connection with the issuance of the Short course of the history of the CPSU (b)" states: "... the party received a new powerful ideological weapon of Bolshevism, the encyclopedia of the basic knowledge of Marxism - Leninism. It outlines and summarizes the huge experience of the Communist Party, which had no equal and which no party in the world has. "Short course” is an essential tool in solving the problem of mastering Bolshevism, arming members of the party with Marxist-Leninist theory, i.e. knowledge of the laws of social development and political struggle, a means of raising political vigilance by the party and the Bolsheviks, a means of raising the matter of propaganda of Marxism-Leninism onto the appropriate theoretical level.
The Resolution gave a critical assessment of the state of the ideological- political education of the party of Bolsheviks and non-party Bolsheviks, its forms and methods were criticized and specific tasks were set for propaganda.
"By transforming the attending of study circles into in the obligation for members of the party, considering party members as constant primary school pupils who are unable to self-study Marxism-Leninism – as was noted in the Resolution, - party organizations have resorted to a variety of administrative tricks to attract and retain members of the party in the study circles, have taken the Path micromanagement and regulation of the Communists in study circles ... The study circles have rooted misconceptions and methods inhibiting the ideological and political growth of party members, characterized by the ...driving out from the study circles the method of conversation and comradely lively debate."
Thus: the independent study of Marxism-Leninism, rather than bureaucratic over-organization of this work, conversation and friendly debate, and not school-like methods in Party education - is surely not enough evidence of the truly creative approach of the Central Committee of the CPSU (b) towards the order of party propaganda in connection with the publication of the “Short course in the history of the CPSU (b)”.
As a propagandist in the network of party education with more than twenty years of experience, I can witness: in the first years after Stalin's death the party organs aimed propagandists at strict execution of the Decisions of the Central Committee of the CPSU (b) about the methods of studying the theory of Marxism-Leninism. Then the first day of study in the network of party education (1 October) was devoted to a discussion of this ruling. Everything changed after the Twentieth Party Congress (February 1956), which had "unmasked" the so-called Stalin personality cult. The Resolution and the “Short Course” were an anathema. My calls at the meetings of propagandists to return to the recommended methods of Party education by the Resolution were qualified by local party ideologues as a defence of the Stalin personality cult condemned by the party.

"The book was formed by its iron methodology"
"Short course" played a crucial role in improving the methods of party propaganda, the study of history and the development of historical science. A year after the “Short Course” some of the results were summed up.
The eminent Soviet historian Professor Alexander Pankratov (later Academician, Chief Editor of "Questions of History") in his article "Short course in the history of the CPSU (b) and historical science in the USSR”, wrote: "Under the influence of continuous communication with the theoretical richness of the “Short course in the History of the Communist Party (b)", among historians, interest and taste for the issues of theory grew, and there existed a need in the formulation and development of new scientific problems and questions of history ... The publication of the “Short Course of the History of the CPSU (b)”, above all, helped to frame the ideological weaponry of Soviet historians, and very sharply and firmly set the task concerning theoretical backwardness of our cadres "(Pravda, 08.09.1939).
According to the All-Union Book Chamber, "Short Course" was published in the Soviet Union in one year in 41 languages amounting to 15 020 900 copies. In addition, it was published in the central and local magazines with a circulation o 2,091.3 thousand copies. Many local publishers published separate chapters of the "Short Course" in tens and hundreds of thousands of copies.
Demand for the book was so great that, bookselling organization required more than 10 million copies. In connection with the release of the “Short Course" and the Resolution of the Central Committee of 14/11/1938, the demand for the classics of Marxism-Leninism increased. Millions of non-Party Bolsheviks of our country took to the study of the foundations of Marxism-Leninism from the original sources - wrote "Pravda". Despite the large spread of the classics of Marxism-Leninism, the publication of them at that time still lagged far behind the huge demand. As of October 1952, “Short Course" in the languages of the USSR had published a circulation of more than 40 million copies.
The reasons for the enormous popularity of the “Short Course” was not only that the appearance of this book met the needs of the time, to the task of improving the methods of party propaganda, but also in what language it was written.
It is a striking fact that I was fortunate to learn from the published in the third issue of the Belarusian magazine "Neman" in 1987 "A Tale For Myself" by Boris Mikulic. The author of "The Tale" was convicted in 1937 on false charges of "counterrevolution" While serving a ten-year sentence, it is clear from his diary, he assesses the injustice carried out without the slightest anger, and does not generalize the negative life events of that time, even in the local system and often wrote respectfully about the man standing for thirty years at the head of the Party and state. After passing the trials of the camp, he kept his honesty, purity of heart and soul, and never lost faith in the correctness of our revolution.
All these qualities are evident in the following striking fact. While serving out his sentence in the camp, depriving himself of tobacco, he bought for 25 rubles the "Short Course" (the price of this book at the time was 5 rubles.) and, as he says, seriously, with a pencil, took to studying, reading, rereading, and underlining and rereading again, and without any extraneous thoughts, the interest keeps growing. “This book, - said Boris Mikulic - "was formed by iron methodology’.
A man wrongly convicted, in the tenth year of serving his sentence, depriving himself of basic necessities, pays five times the price of the book, and, rising above his personal wound, finds in it evidence of his faith in the ideals of the revolution, in the correctness of the path of building socialism chosen by the party and the people.

"Short Course" crosses the border
The best answer to the slanderers of the era of "perestroika" against the "Short Course" are the data contained in the published in Pravda of 9.09.1939 article by the Secretary of the Excecutive Committee of the Comintern, D. Manuilskogo "Short Course" overseas ". This is what was reported in this article.
Since the arrival of the “Short Course” it only took 4-5 months before it was in the main foreign languages. The book was published in 31 foreign languages and in 17 languages with a total circulation of 700 thousand copies. The printed edition is available in 7 languages, and the translation of the book into another 7 languages. The "Short Course" is published in European and many Eastern languages.
Of the printed 700 thousand copies, 500 thousand were sold, which is unusual for the capitalist countries. Thus, in France, the "Short Course" in 4 months 155 thousand copies were sold, where the circulation of the most popular political books rarely reaches 10 thousand copies. Only a few works of outstanding writers of the classics, Zola, Balzac and others reached the circulation, equal to the circulation of the “Short Course”, and even then not in 3-4 months but for 50 years and more.
In the U.S., the Communist Party hoped to distribute 100 thousand copies of the "Short Course". 4 months later, after publication, this figure was exceeded. Preparation for a new edition of 150 thousand copies was underway. In England, the Communist Party believes that the "Short Course" would sell no less than 100 thousand copies that is, 5 times greater than the number of party members. In 5 months, 31 thousand copies were already sold out. In China, the first two editions of the “Short Course” went immediately, and a new edition was now being prepared.
This suggests that the emergence of the Short Course was a major political event in the life of the communist parties of the world labor movement. With the advent of the Short Course an unusually broad interest had grown among the working masses in the theory of Marxism-Leninism, in the classics of Marxism. In some countries, such as in the United States, the demand for the classic Marxist works, primarily on the writings of Lenin and Stalin sharply increased. Success of the "Short Course" became all the more significant that its appearance was greeted by a conspiracy of silence by social democracy organized by the leadership of the II International by their boycotting of the book.
How can it be explained that the "Short Course" caused such a tremendous response in the ranks of the communist movement in the capitalist countries? This book shows the working people of all countries, how the Bolshevik Party led the country from the grip of capitalism and transferred it to the socialist path, and how the peoples of the Soviet Union built in a hostile capitalist encirclement, a new socialist society. That's why the Communist Party, the legal and illegal, mobilized around the "Short Course". In countries such as England, France, USA, Holland, Belgium and other party organizations with great enthusiasm and interest study the "Short Course". The "Short Course" provided the strongest influence on social-democratic parties. In England, France and Sweden the number of Social Democrats, who after reading the "Short Course" apply for the transition to the ranks of the Communist Party increased.
To promote the "Short Course" to the masses, the Communist Party had to break the blockade of the book by bourgeois governments, to break the sabotage of the Social-democratic apparatus which had been doing everything to prevent the spread of the book among the workers.
"Short course" made a great impression on party cadres, turned them into the fire of its propagandists, raised a new wave of love for the USSR and the Communists intensified their compulsive quest to master the theory of Marxism-Leninism.
In countries with reactionary regimes, for the distribution of the “Short Course” Communists are sentenced to death. In these countries, a copy of the book or even a separate chapter rewritten is regarded as a most precious treasure, passing from hand to hand, and are printed on hectograph, typed, copied by hand, and read until the lines and letters are unreadable.
This article was published in September 1939. After three months the American newspaper The Daily Worker wrote: "The Stalinist history of the CPSU (b) is becoming a real guide for the people."
A striking fact from the military biography of the “Short Course”. Writer Boris Polevoy in an article devoted to gifts of Stalin in connection with his 70 th birthday, he wrote: "... here and "A Short course in the History of the CPSU (b) ", was clandestinely published in Albania during the war. In the book – there are bullet holes. The book the unknown Albanian guerrillas wore on his chest until his last hour, and the fascist bullet, penetrating him had pierced the book too"("Pravda" 08,12.1949).
The triumphant march of the “Short Course” across the world continued. In history there has never been a political book with such a happy fate. Here are details on the distribution of the “Short Course" in some foreign countries during the 10 years since its emergence. In France, this book was distributed to a total circulation of about 400 thousand copies.; In Italy - about 300 thousand Nearly one million copies of the book were published in Romania, about 200 thousand - in Czechoslovakia. In Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria a new edition of the book came out ("Pravda", 02/10/1948).
As of October 1952, "Short Course" in foreign countries was published in more than 11 million copies. English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, Swedish, Turkish, Iranian, Chinese, Polish, Hungarian, Bulgarian, Czech, Albanian, Mongolian, Romanian, Korean and other languages.

The slanderers of Stalin could not bypass this book
In the “perestroika" years that began from April 1985, this book has taken a significant place in the media campaign waged by anti-Stalinist hysteria and has become the target of attacks not only by historians, but also journalists, writers, - all who formed their political capital on "revelations" of Stalin. Criticism of the “Short Course" had the character of unsubstantiated cries such as "product of the cult of personality" , "Procrustean bed of Stalin's schemes and formulas", "vulgarization of Marxism-Leninism ", etc. There was not a single article, which would have been an attempt to give a detailed proven criticism of the concept of the "Short Course", or of its individual chapters and sections.
Revelations of the enemies – are in Volume III of my book "The case of Stalin – the "criminal" and his defence."

MEMBERS OF THE BRITISH PARLIAMENT ARE CAUGHT OUT AS CRIMINALS

Dear No to the Abolition of Welfare Groups, Political Parties, Trade Unions and the People,
MEMBERS OF THE BRITISH PARLIAMENT ARE CAUGHT OUT AS CRIMINALS AND THIEVES. AT A TIME WHEN MILLIONS OF WAGED WORKERS JUST ABOUT EKE OUT A LIVING, MILLIONS BARELY SURVIVE ON BENEFITS, WORKING CLASS PENSIONERS ARE BEING SHAFTED AND THOUSANDS STALK THE STREETS AS BEGGARS WITH THEIR BLANKETS AND DOGS.
What an absolute disgrace.
Add the enormous profits of the oil, financial and military corporations and their greedy shareholders.
And you get the result that capitalism worldwide is an exploitative, inhumane system which is well past its sell by date.
The capitalist mode of production is finished, lets move forward to a much higher form of production and society: socialism and then communism, world wide.
Even if on crutches, terminally ill with cancer and in wheelchairs, get out there on the streets of Britain and overthrow this evil system.
We are being a bit over the top here to get the message across!
Do not legitimise the parasitical, moribund, exploitative and decadent monopoly capitalist regime by voting in the Spring 2010 British fraudulent elections.
Lets achieve the lowest possible electoral turn out, stick two fingers up to the Labour,Tory and Liberal sleaze merchants, and, refuse to cooperate with the authoritarian state apparatus.
As we said in a recent communication:
"The Labour Cabinet are guilty of mass murder and mass unemployment"
Stop the EU roller coaster continuing to destroy our industry and stop the US Yankee ideological, cultural and military dominance of our economy.
It is not just the US Kraft corporation taking over Cadbury's, but now DB, a state owned German railway conglomerate, is taking over sections of our mainly privatised rail industry, including the Tyne and Wear Metro link and Chiltern Rails.
All with the blessing of the EU; which has pauperised millions of workers from the ex Eastern European socialist societies.
Large swathes of the public sector from the NHS to the Education Institutions to the DWP are in the process of being privatised in order to comply with the dictacts of the EU and to make large profits for the financiers and spivs.
Wake up, smell the coffee and resist, resist, resist.
Stop wasting time lobbying corrupt politicians.
Organise the unemployed and fight hard to establish dozens of Unemployed Workers Centres across the country, not controlled by the state.
Don't vegitate on the dole, organise collectively, resist, defend..
As part of our campaign lets close down the parasitical job agencies and bookmakers.
This will assist ordinary working class people and stop them being reliant on corrupt low wage job agencies, and also stop them gambling their low incomes away and destroying families.
Curb binge drinking; our country is awash with alcohol. Bring all the breweries under public and state control and ownership, remove the profit nexus from the brewing industry.
Enforce by law, strict alchoholic drinking levels, to ensure that people stay in control of themselves at all times.
We can work with small and medium enterprises and co-operatives, as long as their workers are treated with respect, are unionised are not exploited and receive good wages and a share of the profits of the enterprise.
In the successful socialist economy of the German Democratic Republic, small and medium enterprises were encouraged; the levers of state power were however firmly in the hands of the working class.
It was a strong industrial economy which collapsed because the USSR, under the anti communist traitor Gorbachev, had effectively allowed the international capitalist class to resume state power in the once almighty Soviet Union.
As part of the deal with Western imperialism, Gorbachev sold out the East European socialist countries and they were brought into the ambit of Western imperialism
Get rid of the non productive global capitalist markets, stocks and shares and the oppressive banking and financial system.
Abolish the feudalistic British monarchy and the parliament.
Get rid of the fascists, racists and nazis in our midst.
We need workers democratic control of the state and industry.
Lets organise a massive nationwide Peoples March For Jobs protest aswell.
To demand full employment, a reduction in the working week whilst maintaining current earnings and end the scandal of millions of people living meaningless lives rotting on the dole.
All sick and disabled people should be treated with respect and dignity.
We got 2 million people on the streets of London in 2003 to oppose the war criminal Blair's invasion of Iraq in cahoots with the Yankee imperialists, we can do it again in opposition to the destruction of our economy, mass unemployment and poverty.
Do not fall for the con trick of the "left" Labour opportunists and fake left so called "Communist Parties",by voting for the Labour war criminals in the forthcoming election.
All the Labour Party, left, right and centre, are as guilty as Blair and Brown of war crimes.
Don't trust the Corbyns, Benns and McDonnells (from the Labour Representation Committee) or the opportunist and revisionist Morning Star newspaper, the tiny Communist Party of Britain and the near extinct and fraudulent New Communist Party.
The Morning Star, for example, pretends to be a socialist newspaper,it does however, on occasion report matters from a socialist and working class perspective. But it plugs capitalist television and radio, which are ideological and cultural weapons of the ruling class. It promotes corrupt and commercialised spectator sports. It fails to educate its readers in the scientific study of the workers philosophy: dialectical and historical materialism.
And tragically, it often sides with US and British led world imperialism on international political issues.
We can, however, try to change things in a positive direction at the Morning Star by taking out cooperative non profit making shares in the Peoples Press Printing Society (owners of the paper), by attending the AGM's, by standing Management Committee candidates and by proposing resolutions..
Work with Communist and Workers parties internationally through the Solidnet organistaion based around the Greek Communist Party in Athens.
Work with anti imperialist and resistance organisations globally.
Don't trust any union which stupidly bankrolls the Labour criminals and class traitors.
However there are millions of honest hard working workers in unions, and many unions are progressive and caring.
And there are millions of oppressed workers, not in unions, being ruthlessly exploited by their mainly monopoly capitalist global bosses.
Turn off the capitalist television and do not legitimise the system by buying the filthy, sensationalist, gutter tabloid press; ignore the capitalist lies of the Times, Independent, Guardian, Telegraph, et. al.
Reject the comfortable, status quo, bourgeois social democratic and pro US and British imperialist "values" of the lying BBC.
Kick capitalist teaching methods out of education from primary schools to the universities.
Learning should be natural and student centred, reject competition and examinations (memory tests).
Teaching should be scientific, scrap elitist, idealist concepts, introduce dialectical and historical materialism. Unite theory and practice.
Think and act critically in order to improve society for the workers and the common good.
Cut out bureaucracy and corruption.
Cut out waste, protect the environment.
Reject the thought police, think for yourselves.
The prisons are full to bursting with poor people; release those who are no danger to the public and have only committed small victimless errors such as shoplifting and for being in debt.
Get them to do socially useful work in the local communities.
Overthrow the crown dictatorship, abolish the aristocratic criminal "justice" system; ensure judges and magistrates and all senior state officials are elected by the people.
Place the rich parasites, Chief Executive Officers, bankers, financiers, war criminal politicians and military chiefs under arrest and put them on trial for crimes against humanity.
The system pretends to support freedom and democracy, but in reality millions of people are denied basic civil liberties and rights; such as the right to work, the right to decent housing, the right to family life, the right to a reasonable standard of living, the right to free speech and free expression.
IN ESSENCE WE LIVE IN A CAPITALIST DICTATORSHIP AND A SURVELLIENCE SOCIETY. WE ARE ALL SLAVES AND SUBJECTS OF THE UNELECTED MONARCH.
We will need to set up alternative forms of communication.
Be wary of the Internet which is saturated with capitalist advertising and pro Yankee US cultural, dog eat dog values.
Go to progressive sites which are part of the resistance to the monopoly capitalist dictatorship.
On a day to day basis we fight to defend the Welfare State and its attemped destruction by the privateers and the capitalist vultures.
Keep up the good work
Yours Fraternally,
Mervyn Drage,
Manchester Unemployed Workers Project.
P.S. Lets get out of NATO and all aggressive military pacts and withdraw our military from Iraq, Afghanistan and other places. US and British led imperialism are currently attempting to destroy sovereign states who resist the imperialists predatory seizure of raw materials and markets.
Lets cooperate with nations globally and trade on an equitable basis.
Lets drastically reduce military spending and abolish all nuclear weapons.
The US and British led warmongers are increasing their military budgets whilst their economies collapse.
We must resist and oppose and defeat these neo Nazis.
Lets make the United Nations into a global anti imperialist organisation.
PPS. Please circulate this rather hastily compiled, but politically correct, e.mail as widely as possible.
THINK WAY OUTSIDE THE CAPITALIST BOX.
Be nice, friendly, caring and comradely; but have no truck with the capitalist class and their hangers on; if they continue to rule much longer, humanity will become extinct.
If you agree with us, please contact us.

No 2 (83) FEBRUARY 2010

IN MEMORY OF V.I. LENIN

On January 21, 1924 in Gorki Leninskie on the 54 th year of life, Vladimir Ilyich Lenin died - the leader of the world's workers, the leader of a party that knowingly entered into the battle for power, indicating the purpose and the way for the Russian proletariat and the peasantry. Lenin was the leader of a great country, which became the first country in the world establishing a dictatorship of the proletariat. His name was a symbol of hope and liberation, wherever there is oppression and slavery "(Clara Zetkin).
- Lenin had "tremendous political courage ... he was not afraid to take on the responsibility a political decision of any size. He did not retreat in this respect, before any risk, took responsibility for his actions, on which depended the fate of not only himself, not only his party but the whole country and to some extent, the world revolution "( historian, Prof. MN Pokrovsky).
- "For nearly a quarter century, Lenin step by step, little by littleprepared the most amazing revolution in the history of mankind. All of his being, he gave himself up to the tasks. During those years he never ceased to be a true leader and inspiration of the movement, he was the one who delivered the calculated, decisive blow, transforming in the October 1917 the image of the whole world and changed the course of world history. On the map of the world among the capitalist chaos emerged a socialist country.
For Lenin, the word "politics" and "humanity" became synonymous. And if we say that any action of the leader of professional revolutionaries merged with his political activities and that it permeates the political sense and spirit of partisanship all what he did, so much the way he did, we want to say that he was a great humanist ...
From whatever side you approach the immense legacy of Leninism, one realizes that, due to its enormous scale, it is essential not only for progress but also to save civilization itself and the human race "(Henri Barbusse).
- Bertrand Russell, one time opposed to the materialist conception of social development, however, noted "the correctness of Lenin and the Bolsheviks that the world needs a fundamental economic reconstruction, it needs a profound change in the thoughts and feelings, philosophy and art, personal relationships of people.” Russell saw the meaning of political philosophy of Lenin, "in the justification of such changes, in which material production will be the servant of man rather than his master, like is the case in bourgeois society."
- "I respect Lenin, who with complete self-sacrifice gave all his strength to the implementation of social justice. I think his method is appropriate. But one thing is certain: people like him are the guardians of conscience and renovators of humanity. During a thousand years, mankind has sought for a just social order to a society free from oppression. Such a society is the great goal, and oppose justice - means to act against conscience "(Albert Einstein).
- "You should not think that the importance of Lenin – is in the past, just because he died. We must think about the future, the importance of Lenin for the future and his significance for the future, and that if the experience that Lenin made - the experience of socialism - does not succeed, then modern civilization will die out, like many civilizations have died out in the past. We now know from history that there were many civilizations and that having reached the point of development, which Western capitalism reached up to now, died and degenerated. Many times representatives of the human race tried to get around this stumbling block, but failed. Lenin created a new method and walked around this stumbling block. If others follow the methods of Lenin, then before us, will open a new era, and we will not be threatened with collapse and death, for us will begin a new history, a history of which we now can not even imagine. If the future is with Lenin, then we can all rejoice in this, but if the world goes along the old path, then I will have to sadly leave this earth "(Bernard Shaw).

Lenin - a genius who knows human history. Cave-like vandalism are the calls for a "reburial" of Lenin's body and the elimination of the Mausoleum, coming from the Russian zoological hatred of socialism and communist ideology by the "democrats" and the pack of "humanist intellectuals" serving them - all those who are responsible for the destruction of our country - the USSR, for betrayal of the Soviet people and the world communist movement.
Lenin - is the conscience of mankind! His tomb -the Mausoleum – is the property of all honest people, of all mankind!
Hands off Lenin, gentlemen traitors to the socialist fatherland!

DEMOCRATIC PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF KOREA

February 16 in the DPRK is a national holiday – the Birthday of the Great Leader Comrade Kim Jong Il.
General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and Chairman of the National Defense Commission of the DPRK, Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army, Kim Jong Il has for more than 16 years stood at the state helm of the country during perhaps the most difficult years of the politically charged atmosphere of world politics.
The years of the brutal half-century of economic blockade, permanent U.S. provocations against the DPRK have not only not broken the heroic revolutionary spirit and highest patriotism of the Koreans, who have closely rallied around their beloved leader, but made them even stronger and more unshakable in their dedication to the struggle with the difficulties in solving the fundamental problem of the Korean revolution - improving the welfare of the people, the desire by their selfless work to quickly build their own prosperous socialist power of a united nation.
In the joint New Year editorial of the three major newspapers – of the party, military and youth - the country's leader Kim Jong Il said: "We intend to build an economic power, ultimately, in order to achieve a steep rise in living standards. Only with a noticeable improvement in living standards across the country will sound even louder the cries "Long live socialism!", the song "Ariran about power and prosperity", and will open the door to building a prosperous powerful country.
The achievements in the DPRK in 2009 are very impressive and surprising. We have noted in our press as the most historic moment, that 2009 was a year of the birth of the DPRK as a world nuclear power, thus now fully protected by the peaceful labor of Korean citizens from any military aggression from outside and their confidence in the future. Now, the DPRK (from the Statement by the DPRK Foreign Ministry of January 11, 2010) by equal right puts to the United States the question on the willingness to revisit the issue of nuclear disarmament if the United States agree to conclude a treaty of peace and if sanctions are lifted against the DPRK. The DPRK rightly believes that signing such a document would "eliminate the hostile relations between the two countries and rapidly move towards the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula."
Consultations on the issue of replacing the currently in force Armistice Agreement with a full peace treaty, according to the DPRK, could be carried out as a separate format, as well as within the six-party talks. As highlighted in the Statement of the DPRK Foreign Ministry, the resumption of the six-party talks will be possible only when the sanctions are lifted against the People's Republic, which in Pyongyang are called the "source of discrimination and mistrust."
But the U.S. like before is still only interested in unilateral disarmament of the DPRK (defense weakening of the DPRK) and therefore continues to insist that the DPRK must first return to the six-party talks, which the United States through its co-partners are again going to put pressure on the DPRK and trying to use them to twist its arms. But such methods of pressure on the DPRK have long passed ...
In the spring of 2009, Kim Jong Il drew up ambitious plans and a vision – by a new revolutionary upsurge, to create a situation of enthusiasm in the Korean revolution and the construction of a mighty prosperous state. He took the initiative to expand the 150 - and then the 100-day labor watch, taking revolutionary measures to achieve victory at this forced stage of the Korean revolution. In response to the call of their leader, the people and the army showed great heroism and courage, so that in 2009, a powerful leap forward was made in socialist construction. 2009 was a year of great change in the development of the economy, defense, construction of new powerful hydroelectric power stations, gravity-fed irrigation canals, introduction of new technologies and improved farming. In keeping with the modern requirements of the twenty-first century, in the capital, Pyongyang, an indoor swimming pool has been built at the Kim Il Sung University, a high-rise hotel Manchzhon put into operation along with other monumental buildings for consumer services for the people. Throughout have been erected monumental building constructions, such as Nenvonskaya, Wonsan Hydro electric station "Youth", irrigation canals on the Plain of Peace and a housing estate in Pyongyang on Mansudae street. The construction of gasification facilities in Namhene have been completed, which is a powerful surge in the modernization of the leading industrial enterprises.
In many parts of the country, complex food-processing facilities have been built. In just a few months the Tedongansky horticultural state farm had been built, as an example of the intensification and modernization of horticulture, and in many counties new livestock and fish farms have been created.
The DPRK has achieved good results in the field of culture and the arts, education and sports. Korean circus performers were awarded top prizes (gold), the "Golden Lion Award". At international competitions, Korean students and mathematicians have been remarkable. In June 2009, the DPRK players won the right to participate in the World Cup games.
It is clear to anyone that the DPRK's tremendous successes in all areas of economics, politics, national defense, science, sport, culture and other aspects of the state is inextricably linked to the tireless work of the Great Leader, the implementation by the people of his grandiose plans of building socialism.
Kim Jong Il is consistently with the people and constantly on construction sites, rural cooperatives, in military units, research institutes, with figures of culture and art. Even in minus 30 degree centigrade frost, Kim Jong Il inspects constructions of the century, is interested how life is arranged by workers, and soldiers, welcomes innovation and encourages them to enter into new heights in their work. The people highly appreciate the enormous work of their Great Leader, his closeness with the people and respond to his care of all of them by ardent love towards him and boundless confidence, closely rallying around him.
KIM JONG IL is a powerful inspiration inexhaustible force the DPRK people and all of his victories.
Not only in 2009, but every year in the DPRK - is a real battle on the road, always well solved and advancing society quickly towards victory.
2010 – is the 65-year anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea and the liberation of the country from Japanese rule. This year marks 10 years since the adoption of the fateful Pyongyang Joint Declaration and 30 years since the proposals towards the creation of the Democratic Confederal Republic of Koryo. There is much hard work to be done towards achieving national reunification, cooperation and cohesion across the nation. 2010 should be a year to create a new situation in the cause of independent national reunification.
In Korean-American relations, the intention has made to achieve through dialogue and negotiation, a solid system of peace and the realization of denuclearization of the Korean peninsula.
Ahead, much has to be done to further modernize the economy, expand and consolidate its power base, to accelerate the introduction into operation of the largest Hichkonskoy and Pektusanskoy "Songun - Youth," hydro electric power stations and much, much more. Particular attention will be drawn to the development of light industry and agriculture for a decisive breakthrough in improving the welfare of the population (we remind readers that 80% of the territory of the DPRK is not suitable for agricultural) . The whole life of the country for the coming period will be subject to a desire with dignity, for big victories in all areas of life to meet the 100-anniversary of the birth of the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung (2012). And naturally, that the most difficult work will be at the Workers' Party of Korea led by its General Secretary Kim Jong Il as the main organizing, leading, guiding and inspiring force.
On the Great Leader's birthday, congratulating him and the Korean people on this famous date, we wish Comrade Kim Jong Il good health for many years, much energy activities for the benefit of the Korean people and for the success in the great task of socialist construction.
CC AUCPB

On the occasion of 68 th anniversary of the birthday of the leader of the DPRK, Kim Jong Il, in his name the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the All-Union Communist party of Bolsheviks AUCPB sent to Pyongyang a congratulatory telegram.

THE POLICY AND OUTCOME OF COLLECTIVIZATION IN THE USSR

S.V. Khristenko, All-Union Communist Party of Bolsheviks (AUCPB)
(Translated by Kevin Cain, leader of For Bolshevism-AUCPB in the UK)

THE NEED FOR COLLECTIVISATION
Already by the end of 1927, the decisive success of the policy of socialist industrialization was ascertained. In the sphere of industry, the question "who is who" was a foregone conclusion in favour of socialism. A different picture was presented by agriculture. Gross output of its main sectors - grain production - amounted to only 91% of the pre-war level, and the commodity side of grain products sold for the supply of towns, barely reached 37% of the pre-war level, and all evidence suggests that there was a danger of further decline of commodity grain production. No doubt that if such a condition continued in grain farming, the country would have found itself in the face of chronic hunger.
The owner of the grain market was the kulak (wealthy peasant farmer). Making up 2.5 -3% of the total number of farms, kulaks harvested 70-80% of commodity grain. Poor farmers, who were horseless, were in complete bondage to the kulak. For the use of a horse, a poor peasant had to pay "either a pood of grain per day, or a woman harvesting for five days." They were crippling terms, but what could they do? The harvest of the poor peasant was not enough to last until the next year, and so he had to borrow grain from the kulaks to the next harvest. He had to return twice the amount of grain! The kulaks demanded from the state complete freedom of trade in grain. The state price for grain did not suit the kulak – so the kulak decided – “I will not sell the grain, but will dig it into a pit, and let it rot. And it was a mass phenomenon. For concealment of grain in 1928, for example, in the Middle Volga Region, 17 thousand kulak farms were put on trial.

WAYS OUT OF THE CRISIS
To get out of the crisis situation, it was necessary to transfer agriculture over to large-scale production that can set in motion, tractors and agricultural machinery and to raise several times the marketability of grain production. The country faced two options: either to move to large-scale capitalist production, which would mean the ruin of the peasant masses, the loss of alliance between the working class and peasants, a strengthening of the kulaks and the defeat of socialism in the countryside, or take the path of consolidation of small farms into large socialist farms, i.e. collective farms.
It is clear that the Bolshevik Party and Soviet state could only take the second road, the collective farm pathway of agricultural development. This is what Lenin said: "Only if we succeed in practice to show peasants the benefits of public, collective, cooperative cultivation, only if we succeed in helping the peasant by means of a cooperative, collective farm economy, will the working class, which holds state power in its own hands, and the peasants actually prove their case, and really attract over to its side firmly in this way, millions of peasants.

XV CONGRESS. COLLECTIVIZATION. THE KULAK.
Such was the situation before the XV Congress of the Party opened on December 2, 1927. Noting in his Report to Congress on the progress of industrialization and the rapid growth of socialist industry, Stalin put to the Party the task: "To expand and strengthen our socialist commanding heights in all sectors of the economy both in the city and village, heading towards the liquidation of capitalist elements in the national economy. Noting the backwardness of agriculture, especially grain production, comrade Stalin emphasized that such an unenviable state of agriculture was posing a threat to the entire economy.
"The way out, - answered comrade Stalin – is to turn the small and scattered peasant farms into large integrated ones based on social cultivation of land, in the transition to collective farming on the basis of new and higher technology. The way out is for the small and tiny peasant farms to gradually but steadily, not by pressure, but by example and persuasion, merge into large farms based on public, cooperative, collective farming, with the use of agricultural machinery and tractors, using scientific methods of intensive farming.”
The XV Congress decided on the full deployment of collectivization of agriculture. The Congress adopted a plan for expanding and strengthening the network of collective and state farms, and gave clear instructions on how to fight for collectivization of agriculture. The Party realized that, until the resistance of the kulaks was broken, and until kulakism was smashed in open battle in front of the peasantry, the working class and the Red Army will suffer from a shortage of bread, and the collective movement of peasants can not take a mass character.
Following the directives of the XV Congress of the Party, the party launched a determined offensive against the kulaks. In its advance forward, the party carried the slogan: reliance on the poor peasant and strengthening the alliance with the middle peasant, carry out a resolute struggle against the kulaks. In response to the refusal by the kulaks to sell surplus grain to the state at a fixed price, the party and the government carried out a series of emergency measures against the kulaks, applied Article 107 of the Criminal Code on confiscation by the court of surplus grain from the kulaks and speculators if they refuse to sell this surplus grain to the state at fixed prices.

KULAK TERROR
The kulaks immediately realized the mortal danger to themselves by collectivization and unleashed terror against the collective farm activists and village correspondents. Not a week went by that the newspapers did not report killings of village correspondents carried out by kulaks. In the village of Molvino in Bogorodsky district, of the Moscow province, an active rural correspondent of the county newspaper "Voice of the working" and secretary Zakharov of the Komsomol cell were shot and killed from behind a corner. In the village of Sabah (Tatar Republic), kulaks brutally murdered active worker rural correspondent Zakir Yusupov, who was exposing the tricks of the kulaks in the newspapers. In Crimea, in the village Mushasha, kulaks killed labourer-Komsomol Alexeyev, an organizer of the rural wall newspaper. In Uzbekistan, Bai mercenaries slaughtered active worker comrade Shukurov and his wife. The Orshansky district court sentenced to five years in prison four kulaks from the village Lozovka in Krupsky district for arson of the new farm "Iskra" and the destruction of nine collective farm workers. Of interest are available a summary of information of the hostile acts carried out against the collective farms in the first half of 1931. In general, across the Soviet Union during this period were attacked once - 8.1% percent of collective farms, two times - 3.4%, three times - 1.4%, four times or more - 2.9% of farms. Out of one hundred cases of attack, 21.9% were arson attacks, poisoning of cattle - 7.4%, attacks on activists - 35.1% of cases, damage to the collective farm machinery – 14.5% and others - 20.7% of cases.

TURNING TO COLLECTIVE FARMS
The actual attitude by the mass of the peasants - poor, middle peasants toward collectivization after the XV Congress of the Party had changed. The peasant masses were definitely turning towards collective farms. An important role was played by state and Machine-Tractor Stations, armed with tractors and other machines. Creating MTS-s was fully supported by Stalin in his speech at the XV Congress, where he quoted a letter from Odessa peasants: "After seeing the work of the tractors, we do not want poor small-scale farming, and have decided to organize a tractorized socialized economy in which there will be none of the peasant patches of crops. The organizing of tractor farms for us has already been taken on by the Taras Shevchenko farm, with whom we made agreement”. On June 5, 1929, the Labor and Defense Council adopted a resolution on the widespread establishment of MTS-s. It was a wise decision, which made it possible to unload from the emerging collective farms the unbearable burden of buying expensive agricultural technology, by providing for high-quality maintenance and repair. The role of the MTS in raising the level of Soviet agriculture was enormous. MTS-s lasted until 1958, when Khrushchev had them liquidated. As has been written on the Internet: "At the present time, due to the difficult financial situation of many agricultural enterprises, as well as the development of small farms, the need to form MTS-s has re-emerged!”
A country rhyme during the time of collectivization clearly shows the position of poor peasants:
You kulak -
Enemy of the Soviet,
Who buries bread in the ravine, -
You will not bring back the days bygone,
Shall not lead the country to darkness.

A mass collective-farm movement unfolded, which especially gained strength by the end of 1929, and gave unprecedented growth of the collective farms. In 1928, the sown area of farms was 1,390 thousand hectares in 1929 - 4,262 thousand hectares, and in 1930 the collective farms had sown 15 million hectares. In his article "A Year of Great Change" (November 7, 1929) Comrade Stalin said, "It must be admitted that the rate of growth of the collective farms - is such speedy pace of development unprecedented even by our socialized large-scale industry, the pace of development is altogether on a grander scale." It was a turning point in the development of the collective movement. This was the beginning of a mass collective-farm movement. "What is new in the current collective-farm movement?", asked Comrade. Stalin. And he answered: "The new and decisive in the current collective-farm movement is that the collective peasants are not in separate groups, as was the case earlier, but entire villages, parishes, districts, and even okrugs. And what does this mean? This means that the middle peasant has gone into collective farms. This is the basis of that radical change in the development of agriculture, which is a major achievement of Soviet power ...”.
This meant that the task of eliminating the kulaks as a class, on the basis of complete collectivisation was ripening or had ripened. The massive entry of peasants into collective farms that unfolded in 1929 - 1930 respectively, was the result of all the previous work of the Party and government. The growth of socialist industry, which began mass production of tractors and agricultural machinery; the resolute struggle against the kulaks during the grain-procurement campaigns in 1928 and 1929; a good experience of the first collective and state farms - all this prepared for the transition to solid collectivization, the entry of peasants into collective farms of whole villages, regions, districts.

ELIMINATION OF KULAKS AS A CLASS.
Until 1929 the Soviet government pursued a policy of restricting the kulaks. Soviet power heavily taxed the kulaks, demanded that he sell grain to the state at fixed prices, limited to a certain size the kulak's land use by the law on land lease and limited the scope of kulak farming by a law on the use of hired labor on private farms.
At the end of 1929, in connection with the growth of collective and state farms, the Soviet government made a sharp turn in relation to the kulak. On January 19, 1930, Stalin wrote an article "On the question of eliminating the kulaks as a class," which clearly and unequivocally said: "The current policy of the party in the countryside is not a continuation of the old policy, but a change from the old policy of restricting (and ousting) the capitalist elements in the village to a new policy of eliminating the kulaks as a class. "
This policy was embodied in the decree of the Central Committee of the CPSU (b) on January 5, 1930 "On the speed of collectivization and measures by the state to help farm development" . The decision made important instructions that the main form of farm movement at this stage was the agricultural cooperative, in which only the basic means of production was collectivized. The Central Committee seriously warned against any party organizations whatsoever, "decreeing" from above and over the collective farm movement.
The most important was the decision of the Politburo of the CPSU (b) "On Measures for the elimination of the kulak farms in areas of complete collectivization" of 30 January 1930, according to which areas of complete collectivization had been scheduled: to confiscate from Kulaks the means of production, cattle, small agricultural and residential buildings, processing, feed and seed stocks. Kulaks in their degrees of opposition to collectivization were divided into three categories. Kulaks-active counter-revolutiona ries were referred to concentration camps, less dangerous kulaks - moved to the sparsely populated regions. The total number of liquidated kulak households in all major areas was estimated at roughly 3-5%. Lists of kulak households being evicted to remote areas, were set up by regional executive committees by decisions of meetings of farmers, laborers' marginalised workers assemblies and approved by the district executive committee. Strict orders were given - to concentrate blows against the true kulak households and certainly to prevent the spread of these measures to any part of the middle peasants.
The order stipulated: eviction and confiscation of property not to include families of the Red Army and the commanders of the Red Army. It was planned: to send 60 thousand kulaks to concentration camps and 150 thousand kulaks subjected to exile to remote areas. Family members of prisoners and kulaks deported to concentration camps can, if they wish and with the consent of the local executive committees, stay temporarily or permanently at the former place of residence. The resolution clearly stated, what should be left to the deported kulaks from their property. When arriving at their new place of residence, they are to be provided with building materials and discount loans for renovation, to which the state has allocated tens of millions of rubles. The Central Committee categorically stated: "These activities must be in organic connection with the real mass collective movement of the poor and middle peasants and an inseparable part of the process of complete collectivisation. The Central Committee strongly cautioned against the existing in some areas of facts of substituting work on mass collectivization by de-kulakization. Only in combination with the most extensive organization of the poorest peasants and agricultural labourers and rallying the poor and middle peasants by collectivization, and necessary administrative measures on de-kulakization can lead to the successful resolution of the tasks set by the party against in relation socialist reconstruction of the countryside and the elimination of the kulaks. "
During the collectivization, the kulaks were expropriated in the same way as in 1918 when the capitalists had been expropriated in the industrial field, with one difference, however, that the means of production of the kulaks crossed this time not into the hands of the state, but into the hands of peasants united in the hands of the collective farms. This was a profound revolution, a leap from the old qualitative state of society to a new qualitative state, equivalent in its consequences to the revolution in October 1917. The originality of this revolution is that it was from above, on the initiative of the state, with direct support from below from the vast masses of peasants fighting against kulak bondage, for the freedom of the collective farms.

EXCESSES DURING THE COURSE OF COLLECTIVIZATION
The resolution of the Central Committee of the CPSU (b) on January 5, 1930 "On the tempo of collectivization and measures to help by the state towards farm development" had made clear the implementation of the new party policy in the countryside. On the basis of the policy of eliminating the kulaks and the establishment of solid collectivization a powerful collective movement was launched. Peasants of whole villages and regions entered into collective farms and swept away the kulaks from the path, and freed themselves from kulak bondage. But along with the huge success of collectivization were soon detected shortcomings in the practice of party workers and distortions of the Party policy on collective farms. Despite the warning by the Central Committee against excessive enthusiasm on the success of collectivization, many party officials artificially forced collectivization, regardless of the conditions of time and place, without regard to the degree of preparedness of the peasants to join collective farms.
There were many violations and excesses. It was found that the principle of voluntariness in collective farm construction was violated. In some areas, voluntariness was replaced by forced joining collective farms under the threat of de-kulakization, electoral disenfranchisement, etc. There were rare cases in which peasants, sometimes even - and the poor were improperly "catogorised" as kulaks. Contrary to the instructions of the Central Committee that the basic link of the collective farm movement was the agricultural cooperative, which only the basic means of production are shared, in some places it was carried out by a leap straight to the commune, along with the socialization of dwellings, the subsistence and small-scale dairy cattle, poultry and so on was conducted. All these excesses in provocative aims were used by kulaks and their henchmen. Kulaks led agitation for the slaughter before joining the collective farms, assuring farmers that the farm animals "would be still taken away." Kulaks themselves, by destroying and selling cattle, sought to "become middle peasants." By March 1930,across the RSFSR, the number of pigs decreased from the spring of 1929 by half, sheep – by a third, cattle - a quarter, horses - by 12.5%. Kulaks widely used tactics of handing their stocks of grain in interest-bearing debt to the poor and middle peasants, and on inspection with "astonishment" claimed - we have no surplus grain! The class enemy reckoned that the excesses and mistakes made by local organizations during collectivization, would embitter the peasantry, would cause revolts against Soviet power. And such anti-Soviet action had taken place in the spring of 1930.

PUTTING RIGHT THE EXCESSES OF COLLECTIVISATION
The party Central Committee, having received a number of alarming signals about the distortions of the Party line, which threatened the collapse of collectivization, immediately began to rectify the situation, began to turn the party cadres on the road to a speedy correction of mistakes. On March 2, 1930 by decision of the Central Committee article by Comrade Stalin "Dizzy with success. Questions on the collective-farm movement. " was published . Stalin denounced the actions of the authorities in the localities which were not included in the accelerated plans for collectivization in particular, the premature setting up of agricultural communes: "It is not the commune, but the agricultural cooperative that is the main link of the collective farm movement, the cooperatives are not socialized: i.e. peasant plots of land (small gardens, orchards), dwellings, a certain part of the dairy cattle, sheep, poultry and so on.” Stalin blamed "overzealous socialiser" in "disrupting and discrediting" the collective farm movement and condemned their actions, "pouring water into the watermill of our class enemies."
The article by comrade Stalin had great political significance. It helped the party organizations to rectify their mistakes and dealt a severe blow to the enemies of Soviet power, their hope that on the soil of the excesses, they would be able to set the peasants against the Soviet power. The broad masses of peasants were convinced that the line of the Bolshevik Party had nothing to do with the "left" excesses, that were took place in the localities. The article brought comfort to the peasant masses.

THE SUCCESS OF COLLECTIVISATION
By the opening of the XVI Congress on June 26, 1930, profound change in the development of agriculture in the USSR had been achieved. The broad masses of peasants had turned to socialism. On May 1, 1930 in the major grain-growing regions, collectivization covered 40 - 50% of farms (instead of 2-3% in the spring of 1928). Commodity production of collective farms in three years had grown more than 40 times. Already in 1930, the state received from the collective farms, excluding state farms (the Sovkhoz), more than half of all marketable grain production in the country. The collective-farm peasantry, as pointed out at the XVI Congress of the Party in one of its decisions, "is a true and firm support of Soviet power."
1931 gave a new growth of the collective farm movement. In the main grain-growing districts, more than 80 percent of the total number of peasant farms had been united into collective farms. Solid collectivisation there was already largely completed. 200 thousand collective farms (kolkhozy) and 4 thousand state farms (sovkhozy) had seeded two-thirds of the total sowing area, but individual farmers - only one-third.

THE STRUGGLE FOR QUALITY WORK OF COLLECTIVE FARMS
But collective farm construction has not yet been developed in depth, but only in breadth - not through improving the quality of the collective farms and their personnel, but by increasing the number of collective farms and collective farms covering more and more new areas. This circumstance is explained by the fact that the growth of the collective assets, the growth of kolkhoz personnel was not keeping pace with the quantitative growth of the collective farms. Hindering the consolidation of collective were facts such as the lack of educated people in the village needed to farm (accountants, office managers, secretaries) and the lack of experience in conducting large-scale collective farming. The collective farmers were the day before, individual farmers. They had experience in farming small plots of land. But they still did not have experience in leading large, collective farms.
In view of these circumstances, were discovered serious flaws in the early days of collective farming. It turned out that collective farm labour was still poorly organized and labour discipline was weak. On many collective farms, income ws not shared according to workdays, but according to consumers. Often it appeared that a loafer got more bread than a diligent, honest farmer. In connection with such deficiencies of the collective leadership, interest of the farmers fell at work, there was a lot of absenteeism, and even in the warmest season, part of the collective farm crops remain unharvested until the snow and harvesting itself was carried out carelessly leading to the huge losses of grain. Lack of personal responsibility for machines and horses, the lack of personal responsibility in work, weakened the collective cause and reduced the income of the farms.

NEW TACTICS BY THE KULAKS. THE POLITICAL DEPARTMENTS UNDER MTS.
It was particularly bad in areas where former kulaks and pro-kulaks managed to clamber into the collective farms and occupy certain posts. Often, former kulaks moved to another district where they were not known, and from there clamber into a collective farm to cause harm and mischief. Penetration into collective farms by former kulaks was made easier by the fact that in the struggle against the collective farms, they abruptly changed their tactics. By now, they did not fire their sawn-off shotguns, but pretended to be quiet, compliant, and obedient, fully Soviet people. Penetrating into the collective farms, they tried to break them from within, to break up the collective farm labour discipline, messing up crop records and labour accounting. Kulaks were betting on horse and livestock slaughter on the collective farms and were able to kill a lot of horses. The kulaks damaged tractors and machinery.
To put an end to the kulak sabotage on collective farms and to accelerate the consolidation of farms, it was necessary to provide collective emergency assistance and the serious help, advice and guidance to people. This assistance was rendered to the collective farms by the Bolshevik Party. In January 1933 the Party Central Committee adopted a decision on the organization of political departments in the machine-tractor stations, serving the collective farms. 17 thousand party workers were sent to the countryside to work in the political departments to help the collective farms. The political departments of the MTS-s in two years (1933 and 1934) did much work in addressing the shortcomings of the collective farms, to grow the collective farm activists, to strengthen the collective farms, to clean out collective farms from hostile, kulak, wrecking elements. The political departments honorably fulfilled the stated objectives: they strengthened the collective farms in organizational and economic relations and educated new collective-farm staff, developed economic management of collective farms and raised the political level of the collective farm masses.

RESULTS OF COLLECTIVISATION
By the end of 1934, the collective farms had become a solid and invincible force. They united by this time already about three-quarters of all peasant farms throughout the Soviet Union and about 90 percent of all farmland. In 1934, in Soviet agriculture 281 thousand tractors and 32 thousand harvesters were working. A strong victory of the collective farm system and associated development of agriculture gave the Soviet government the chance to abolish the rationing of bread and other products and to establish free trade in food products, to look to the future with certainty.
A few words about the "remote" consequences of collectivization. Gross output of a Soviet village as compared with 1913 for 60 years, for example, grew 4,4 times, and productivity - 6 times. The USSR occupied one of the first places in the world for food production: it produced more wheat, rye, barley, sugar beets, potatoes and milk than any other country in the world. In 1954-1961, the Soviet Union hd the world's highest average annual growth rate of agricultural products – at 6%. Compared with the record year of 1913, when it was produced 250 kg of grain per capita, the USSR, increased these figures by 3 times.

THE VALUE COLLECTIVISATION
In summarizing, we can say - collectivization was absolutely necessary and a vital stage of socialist construction in the USSR. Only by completely destroying the power of capitalist owners in rural areas could the people seriously aspire to build socialism in the USSR. Only the care of the Bolshevik Party, the Soviet government of the peasant-workers allowed it to get out of the quagmire of centuries of poverty and injustice, start a new life, where everything depended on their honest, kind, conscientious labour.
How great is the role of Stalin personally in the planning and implementation of collectivization. This was in the formulation of the basic goals, objectives, pace, methods of collectivization, and the wise leadership of this process at each stage, which allowed to avoid, bypass time, many terrible dangers, standing in the way of collectivization - the social process that vitally affects the fate of tens of millions of people.
