Pyongyang Declaration Inspires World′s Socialist Movement

Pyongyang, April 20 (KCNA) -- Today marks the 20th anniversary of the Pyongyang Declaration "Let Us Defend and Advance the Cause of Socialism". The declaration has served as an inspiring banner for political parties and people throughout the world aspiring after socialism. In the early 1990s, socialism collapsed one after another in some countries and the imperialists were advertising the "end" of socialism. On top of that, renegade socialists were claiming that the socialist idea itself was wrong. Thereby, many countries desirous of socialism began to harbor doubts about it. At that time, representatives of 70 political parties from across the world, including 48 party leaders, met in Pyongyang to sign the Pyongyang Declaration in the name of their parties. The declaration was inked by more than 150 political parties until the end of Juche 81 (1992). Over the past years, the world's socialist movement has got momentum, inspired by the declaration. The advantages of the socialist system in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea inspire the world's progressives with confidence that socialism is truth and science and it will unfailingly emerge victorious. -

Manik Mukherjee, General Secretary of International Anti-imperialist Coordinating Committee (IACC) has the issued the following statement on DPRK's plan for a satellite launch:



The IACC strongly condemns the US stand as articulated by President Obama on DPRK's plan for a satellite launch for peaceful purposes during the birth centenary celebration of the great leader President Comrade Kim Il Sung. The US threat is part of a conspiracy to destabilize the socialist DPRK, and USA has no right to dictate terms and order the stopping of the launch. In the high level negotiations with USA, DPRK has consistently clarified that a moratorium on long-range missile launch does not include satellite launch for peaceful purposes and it has always reiterated its sovereign right to indigenously develop the technology for the launch. It has even invited space experts and media persons of the world to come and observe the course of the launch and check the peaceful nature of the scientific and technological development. The US attitude is blatantly confrontational, is bound to intensify the war tensions and vitiate the atmosphere for negotiations for peace and reunification in the Korean peninsula. IACC appeals to all peace and freedom loving people of the world to denounce the USA's nefarious actions and postures, and to rise up in protest demanding that USA and its ally the puppet South Korean regime give up their hosility against DPRK and enter into serious and sincere negotiations for reunification, peace and withdrawal of all foreign military forces from the Korean peninsula.

Pyongyang, March 24 (KCNA) -- Those forcibly discharged by the south Korean puppet group and part time workers have been on a sit-down action under the motto "99 percent plaza of hope for a society free from lay-off and part-time jobs" in Seoul since March 10.

Its participants held a press conference near Chongwadae on March 21 at which they denounced the puppet authorities for their moves to enforce man-killing part time jobs and lay-off against workers.

At the press conference, they deplored it is very difficult for the above-said people to live every day.

They urged the authorities to abrogate the law on part-time jobs and lay-off which forces people to wander about streets.

The serious problem of lay-off and part-time jobs was caused by the present regime, they said, urging Lee to own responsibility for this situation and settle it without delay.

Then, they staged an action in demand of an interview with traitor Lee.

Anniversary of Setting Fire to 'American Cultural Service' Marked

Pyongyang, March 18 (KCNA) -- South Korean youths, students and other people set fire to the "American Cultural Service" in Pusan on March 18, 1982, and waged a brave anti-U.S. struggle, scattering leaflets "U.S. go out!" and "No American neocolonialism!"

Newspapers on Sunday dedicate bylined articles to the anniversary.

They say that setting fire to the Pusan "American Cultural Service" recorded a shining page in the history of anti-U.S. struggle for independence as it was demonstration of the will to win back the sovereignty of the nation and achieve the reunification of the country.

Rodong Sinmun says:

Three decades have passed since then, but the desire of the south Korean people for sovereignty has not yet come true.

The south Korean puppet ruling quarters are guides for the U.S. permanent presence and domination over south Korea. The successive ruling quarters of south Korea have worked hard to stay in power and escalate confrontation with the compatriots in the north while selling out the dignity and interests of the nation, clinging to the coattail of the U.S., bereft of national self-esteem.

The revival of fascist dictatorial system and deterioration of the economy and people's living which arouse deep concern in south Korea are entirely due to the pro-U.S. sycophantic and traitorous policy of the conservative group. It is the Lee Myung Bak regime that asked the U.S. to postpone the "transfer of the right to wartime operational command" and not abandon the regime, persistently opposed to the reduction of the U.S. forces in south Korea in a bid to turn south Korea into a permanent colony of the U.S.

The Lee group is getting frantic with the confrontation with the fellow countrymen in the north, slandering the idea of "By our nation itself", the idea guiding the era of independent reunification, in violation of the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration. This is a reckless act of toeing the U.S. policy of aggression toward the DPRK.

Pyongyang, March 13 (KCNA) -- The Afghan president on Sunday strongly condemned the killing of 16 civilians, including nine children and three women, by a U.S. soldier in the country's southern province of Kandahar. The soldier broke into three houses and opened indiscriminate fire on them.

Five more people were injured in the incident. This killing has touched off great protest and denunciation by the locals.

Pyongyang, March 12 (KCNA) -- A rumor that south Korea's Lee Myung Bak was dead had swept throughout the Democratic People's Republic of Korea on Saturday.

In this regard, Tokko Hyon Song, living in Phyongchon District, Pyongyang, told KCNA:

"I will feel relieved if Lee Myung Bak dies as the rumor says. The article carried by the daily Rodong Sinmun Sunday is indicative of public sentiments. I believe that resentment toward the Lee group of traitors has turned to be the rumor.

As there is a saying 'the public is the best judge', the Lee group, heinous traitors to the nation, will find no a shelter in this land and sky."

Jong In Bok, living in Phyongsong City, South Phyongan Province, said:

"Even if Lee Myung Bak, little different to a beast, died, it is needless to pin hope on the south Korean regime. But, the rumor represents the surging indignation against the Lee group.

The public has already sentenced a death penalty to Lee. Now, death only awaits him."

Pyongyang, March 11 (KCNA) -- Philippine seafarers on Thursday accused the United States of taking advantage of upcoming joint military exercises to build a naval base on the island of Palawan, in the west of the archipelago.

The vice president of the Association of Pamalakaya Fishermen, Salvador France, told local media that the Pentagon wants its 6,000 soldiers to familiarize with the field to turn Palawan into a military base.

France said that the White House claims that the Philippines will become the new Okinawa. -0-
