An Analysis of the south Korean economy by the Pyongyang Mission of the AINDF

Recently south Korea falls into a debtor country.

A rate of the "national debt" which was 36 percent of "GDP" of south Korea in 2017, increases rapidly by 50 percent this year. Some estimates put the amount of the "national debt" at more than 900 billion US dollars in 2022.

As the amount of the "national debt" increases rapidly, the next generation is destined to shoulder a huge debt. The present "regime" of south Korea will go down to history as a "regime blown away all public finance", the people from all walks of life censure.

Owing to the rapid increase of the "national debt", crisis of the south Korean economic system is anticipated to be further aggravated.

An increasing rate of the "national debt" of south Korea is more than 10 percent in the last 2 years, which is unparalleled in the world. At this rate, the increasing rate will reach more than 66 percent in 2026.

After all, the south Korean economy could not help drifting toward bankruptcy due to the spiraling "national debt"; it might make the same mistake as Japan degraded to 3rd-class state because of its slow growth, they said.

It follows as a natural consequence of the economy of south Korea, a colonial subcontract one.

On the contrary, the south Korean authorities always say "a forward country".

However, the increase of the "national debt" reveals that south Korea is not an advanced country and its economy, too, is a bubble one.

Brilliant Career

-On the 72nd anniversary of the passing away of anti-Japanese heroine Kim Jong Suk-

It has been 72 years since the anti-Japanese heroine Kim Jong Suk passed away.

The immortal exploits she performed for the country, nation and revolution shine brilliantly and left a deep impression on the Korean nation and the world progressives.

She was a bodyguard loyal to the revolutionary cause of the leader and the incarnation of devotedly defending the leader.

She, who regarded it as her unshakable creed that safeguarding President Kim Il Sung is just the way to defending the Korean revolution, set an example in defending the President in the days of the anti-Japanese war.

After the country’s liberation, she concentrated all her efforts on good health of the President, saying that holding the president in veneration provides a sure guarantee for a strong nation and the people’s wellbeing.

She devoted her time and energy to defend the President.

The entire Korean nation and world progressive humanity express their ardent admiration for her, looking back upon her noble life.

The whole life of Kim Jong Suk serves as a compass for encouraging us to the struggle against vicious moves of the US and anti-reunification elements, comrade Kim, a member of the AINDF Seoul Committee said. He hardened his determination to achieve the cause of national independence without fail.

The adherents of Juche idea of the world including the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea said in unison that Kim Jong Suk will shine as an eternal model of loyalty along with the DPRK led by the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un

Collapse of Imperialist Domination System Is Inevitable

Pyongyang, September 17 (KCNA) -- Ri Song Gun, a researcher at the Institute of International Studies of the DPRK, issued the following commentary:

The Afghan war triggered off by the U.S. as a prelude to "anti-terrorism war" in 2001, the first war in the 21st century, has ended with the U.S. troops scurrying home in disarray after 20 years.

The U.S. has had a heavy toll of some 2 600 deaths and over 20 000 wounded for its total input of over 800 000 troops and more than 2 trillion US$ into the war.

The "longest war in American history" spawned increasing acts of terrorism, escalating religious conflicts, widespread refugee crisis, regional instability and other horrendous disasters, much less helping it achieve its goal of "eradication of terrorism" and "establishment of democracy" in Afghanistan.

The number of terrorist groups, which was only less than ten early in the war, has now risen to over 20, and reckless military operations have taken the lives of more than 100 000 peaceable civilians and produced refugees numbering over 10 million.

The catastrophic situation in Afghanistan plunged the U.S. into the abyss of war, leaving it with no other choice but to dare an "emergency exit" to stop the excessive consumption of its resources and the "bleeding" of its economy.

The U.S. troops' shameful act of fleeing Afghanistan with no heed to its much-touted rhetoric of "spread of liberal democracy" and the responsibility for the "restoration of a ruined country" is a self-confession of its failed policy towards Afghanistan.

This has brought to light the status quo of the "only superpower" now on the decline with no qualifications for international policing.

Notably, Taliban the U.S. forces said they had "annihilated" just two months after the start of the war, has towered as an imposing force powerful enough to seize power and pressurize the U.S. troops' withdrawal after 20 years, a meaningful sign signifying the U.S. defeat and the collapse of its predominant position.

The Afghan incident has shattered the U.S. fiction and crumbled the master-servant relationship between the U.S. and capitalist countries.

The U.S. selfish and perfidious acts of unhesitatingly deserting the Kabul regime that it looked after for decades and of withdrawing without any notice to NATO allies with whom it had engaged in the "bloody war" have amplified the mistrust and frustration of its allies and satellite nations at the U.S. security commitment.

These countries have realized that their "most important ally" is not so strong and cooperative as they thought and expected, and they are racking their brains to draw up again their own strategies for security and existence.

The EU now discusses the issue of founding about 5 000-strong rapid response force, claiming that the Afghan incident must be a turning point for boosting Europe's strategic independence and that it has to possess capabilities to defend its interests.

Major Western media now churn out comments that "the Western liberal order has been defeated, the U.S. downfall has reached a zenith, the U.S. is withdrawing in actuality though it says it has returned and the Atlantic alliance will grow weaker in the future".

It is the mentality of the U.S. allies and partners to form an independent pole rather than following the waning U.S.

The collective security system touted by the U.S. is nothing but a tool for meeting its own interests and the blind pursuance of the U.S. will only bring disgrace and destruction. This is a lesson left by the Afghan incident.

After all, this incident has become a critical milestone in speeding up the self-destruction of the unipolar domination structure and the old international order created by the U.S. after the Second World War.

No country and nation in the world wants to live under others' pressure and domination and it is the independent right and common aspiration of all countries and nations to build up their own strength and develop their own way.

The U.S. domination system restricting independent development of other countries and nations and enforcing the Yankee-style view on value and liberal orders on them has been further endangered by the advance of newly emerging powers and the struggle of the people of various countries to champion their cultures, traditions and development methods.

Imperialism with aggression, interference, avarice and plunder as its attributes is debris of history that has outlived.

It is the law of historical development that imperialism wanes and mankind heads towards socialism, and history advances by the struggle of the people standing for independence and justice in the 21st century, as it did in the 20th century.

The collapse of the imperialist domination system is the inevitability of history. -0-

The sun of Juche shining with immortal feats

Twenty seven years have passed since President Kim Il Sung passed away.

On the day, the Korean nation and world progressive mankind look back upon the President’s imperishable achievements with intense yearning for him.

His 80 odd year-long life is adorned with that of great person who led the 20th century as the victorious century of the anti-imperialist cause of independence and the socialist cause with his rare ideology, unique leadership and lofty personality.

He, who embarked on the road of revolution in his teens, elucidated the truth of Juche that independence is the lifeline of a nation and one should make revolution independently and creatively with one’s own faith. He roused the Korean nation to a war against Japan to take back the country from the Japanese imperialists.

He led the Fatherland Liberation War against the allied forces of imperialism broken out in the 1950s to victory, thus honorably defended the sovereignty and dignity of the nation.

The DPRK converted into a socialist power that is independent in politics, self-supporting in the economy and self-reliant in defense envied by the world people on the ruins of the war. It is attributable to judicious leadership of the President.

He, setting national reunification as the supreme national task, laid down fair and aboveboard reunification proposals such as the three principles of national reunification, ten-point program for the great unity of the whole nation and the proposal for founding a Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo with his energetic speculation and search to inspire the Korean nation to the movement for independent reunification.

He indicated the way to be followed by progressive humanity and bestowed warm love on personages of different countries.

President Kim Il Sung is the most outstanding leader, the benevolent father of the nation and great saint of humankind who brilliantly made the history of modern Korea bearing Juche year numbers.

His noble cause had been carried forward by wise and energetic guidance of Chairman Kim Jong Il. It is being carried out by leadership of respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.

Led by the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, the DPRK will demonstrate the prestige of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il’s Korea and will achieve the final victory of the cause of Juche revolution pioneered in Mt. Paektu.

Absurd daydream

CVIA (Complete, Verifiable, Irreversible Abandonment) is specified in a joint statement issued at the summit of G7. CVID (Complete, Verifiable, Irreversible Dismantlement) is specified in a joint statement released at the NATO summit.

The joint statements reflected Washington’s open intention to forcibly dismantle north Korea’s nukes and it is a double-dealing attitude of the US which does not want to negotiate with north Korea, south Korean analysts and mass outlets commented.

The statements brought to light true color of the US preference for denuclearization. The US is going to use such tactics which is no better than a triumphant nation urging a defeated nation to surrender, they said.

The US assertion of unworkable and irrational CVID would spark strong backlash of north Korea and scuttle DPRK-US dialogue, experts in north Korean affairs commented. Washington’s so-called flexible approach toward north Korea is not worthy of discussion as long as the US persists in its hostile policy and sanctions against north Korea and CVID, they added

In memory of two girls

In memory of two girls

A ceremony was held at a park to cherish memory of two schoolgirls Sin Hyo-sun and Sim Mi-sun who were killed by an armored vehicle of the US force in south Korea 19 years ago.

Two schoolgirls who were crushed to death by the US armored car

People respect two girls’ memory

Bitter grudge had not faded away though 19 years passed. We must make the US pay a dear price for the crime, a speaker said at the rally.

The GIs who killed two girls with armored vehicle are living in peace in the US, being left unpunished, the other speaker noted that the unequal south Korea-US alliance contributed to their death.

They in the rally hardened their determination to turn out in the struggle against the foreign force, condemning the US army in south Korea which does not regard the south Korean people’s lives worth those of flies.

The Modern Revisionists and People’s Korea by Dr Dermot Hudson

It is wrongly assumed by some that there were good or close relations between the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and countries like the Soviet Union , Poland , German Democratic Republic , Hungary etc . Some people think that the DPRK received a lot of aid from these countries . This viewpoint is sometimes linked to a wider misunderstanding held by many on the Left that the DPRK was the creation of the USSR or China or even both . Some people do not understand that the DPRK was its own creation , not the creation of another country .

Of course the Workers Party of Korea (WPK ) and the DPRK always argued for unity in the international communist movement and the socialist camp and against counter-productive splits and schisms . However this does not mean there was a rosy relationship between the DPRK and some other countries , far from it .

Recently I was alerted to the fact that a former correspondent of the PAP news agency of Poland  was making hostile remarks about  People’s Korea . This person had been a reporter in the DPRK during the period when Poland was the People’s Republic of Poland . Also a veteran friend of People’s Korea from a European country told me how he visited the DPRK in the early 1970s travelling via Moscow . He had to get a Soviet visa both ways . On the way back the Soviet officials issuing the Visa asked him about his visit to the DPRK . He told them about it . They replied ‘ you know in our country we used to have a problem like in Korea with Stalin , now we have not got it . In Korea it is much worse than when Stalin was in power here ‘  and they offered him a free trip to the USSR .

Both these cases highlight  the fact that although there were state to state relations and party to party relations between the DPRK and the socialist countries of East Europe there were marked differences in policy and sometimes hidden tensions .This fact is neglected by those who wrongly paint the DPRK as being the same as the East European revisionist countries .

In fact People’s Korea and the Workers Party Party of Korea strongly opposed modern revisionism but from an independent position . President KIM IL SUNG said that  “"In 1955, therefore, our Party set forth the definite policy of establishing Juche, and has been persistently urging an energetic ideological struggle to carry it through ever since. The year 1955 marked a turning point in our Party's consistent struggle against dogmatism. It was also at that time, in fact, that we started our struggle against modern revisionism that had emerged within the socialist camp. Our struggle against dogmatism was thus linked up with the struggle against modern revisionism".

Comrade KIM IL SUNG   in the early 1960s ,said that :

"The imperialists and their servants, the revisionists, are now spreading revisionism in opposition to Marxism-Leninism and the communist movement. . . . It has made and is making inroads into our country too, and the anti-Party groups have exported it for their own ends. . . . To reject our Party's leadership means precisely to deny the revolution and capitulate to capitalism. Therefore it is necessary not only to fight against the revisionists who reject Party leadership, but also to relentlessly combat all the unsettling elements that provide good soil for revisionism".

( KIM IL SUNG' On Juche in Our Revolution', p. 213-14).

Speaking to soldiers of the 109th Army of the KPA on the 25th August 1960, Comrade  KIM IL SUNG defined revisionism in this way ;

"Revisionists refashion Marxism-Leninism. They laud themselves as cleverer Marxist-Leninists than Marx or Lenin. Certain countries have this tendency. Some people insist we must peacefully co-exist with the Yankees. How can we do so without opposing US imperialism?"

(KIM IL SUNG 'On Juche in Our Revolution', p. 225).

In 1966 he stated that ‘"Modern revisionism revises Marxism-Leninism and emasculates its revolutionary quintessence under the pretext of a 'changed situation' and 'creative development'. It rejects class struggle and the dictatorship of the proletariat; it preaches class collaboration and gives up fighting imperialism. Moreover, modern revisionism spread illusions about imperialism and in every way obstructed the revolutionary struggle of the peoples for social and national liberation".

(KIM IL SUNG' On Juche in Our Revolution', Volume 1: p. 531).

The DPRK press published articles such as ‘ Let Us Defend the Socialist Camp' and ‘ Hold high the revolutionary banner of national liberation’ which criticized modern revisionism .

Naturally the revisionists in the Soviet Union and elsewhere were not happy with the independent anti-revisionist stand of the DPRK and the Workers’ Party of Korea . In August  1956 the Soviet revisionists and big power chauvinists  tried to overthrow the leadership of the  Workers Party of Korea headed by the great leader President KIM IL SUNG . The WPK purged itself of revisionists .

In 1962  the USSR imposed their own de-facto sanctions against the DPRK by cutting off economic and military cooperation with the DPRK .

In January 1963 the fraternal delegate of the Workers Party of Korea to the 6th Congress  of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany  was prevented from addressing the congress  .

The Bangladeshi author M Jahangir Khan in his book ‘ Global Farmy Songun Internationale ‘ recounts how the USSR disapproved of the Asian Economic Seminar held in Pyongyang , DPRK in 1964  prompting  ‘Pravda ‘ , the daily paper of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union , to attack the DPRK publicly mentioning it by name in August . In September 1964 the WPK daily paper  Rodong Sinmun responded to the attack in Pravda saying “ Why is Pravda so malignant and angry at the success of the Pyongyang economic seminar ? It is because Pravda  is displeased with the resolute anti-imperialist ,anti -colonialist struggle of the Asian and African people ,the spirit of self-reliance surging among them and the ever-strengthening militant unity of the people of the regions . However the truth cannot be covered . The slander will remain long as slander ‘. (  Ever Lighting Beacon  p30 in Global Farmy Songun Internationale  by M Jahanghir Khan ).

In the 1970s the Soviet revisionists put economic pressure on the DPRK  Some sources claim that the USSR drastically increased the price of crude oil sold to the DPRK . In order to counter the pressure of the revisionists , comrade KIM JONG IL put forward the militant revolutionary slogan ‘ Let Us Live Our Own Way  ‘ in December 1978 . The DPRK increased self-reliance .

With the onset of the counter-revolutionary perestroika in the USSR  , the Soviet revisionists again increased economic pressure on the DPRK .  President KIM IL SUNG responded by saying in January 1987  "Modern revisionism which has appeared in the international communist movement is also creating a lot of difficulties for our revolution. On the pretext of 'reforming' and 'reorganising' socialism, the modern revisionists are following the road to capitalism and abandoning internationalist principles. It is, therefore, difficult for us to expect from them cooperation based on internationalism in the building of socialism. What is worse, they are applying economic pressure on us because we do not follow their wrong, revisionist policy”.

One by one the revisionist countries betrayed the DPRK by recognising the south Korean fascist puppet regime . The first to do so was Hungary . The DPRK denounced this as an ‘intolerable act of betrayal ‘ ‘ . Later Poland and Yugoslavia established relations with the south Korean puppets  . In 1990 the traitor Gorbachov met the south Korean puppet dictator Roh Tae Woo . In September  1990 the Soviet revisionists recognised south Korea  . The DPRK ‘s ‘Rodong Sinmun ‘ on the 5th of October 1990 published an article titled ‘Diplomatic relations bought and sold with dollars”  which stated  ‘When the establishment of ‘diplomatic relations’ with south Korea by the Soviet Union is viewed from another angle, no matter what their subjective intentions may be, it, in the final analysis, cannot be construed otherwise than openly joining the United States in its basic strategy aimed at freezing the division of Korea into ‘two Koreas,’ isolating us internationally and guiding us to ‘opening’ and thus overthrowing the socialist system in our country’.

Thus the DPRK always maintained independence and Juche in its relations with the USSR and the East European socialist countries . It pursued a line of uniting while struggling and struggling while uniting .

Reply to some leftist and 'Marxist ' critics of People's Korea

Firstly it is wrong to compare the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea(DPRK)  with the former Polish People’s Republic(PPR)  for a number of reasons . For one thing socialism in the former PPR was frustrated and Poland is no longer a socialist country in any form or way , whereas the DPRK is a socialist country upholding  socialist principles in the struggle with imperialism .

The DPRK was not a creation of another country or copy of another country but based on independence and it developed its own ideology, the Juche idea . The DPRK is the fruit of the anti-Japanese armed struggle by the Korean People’s Revolutionary Army led by the great leader President KIM IL SUNG  , in fact you can say that the DPRK is actually a continuation of the anti-Japanese armed struggle . However in Poland socialism was associated with the Soviet Union and  the PPR was dependent on the USSR . The PPR joined the CMEA whereas the DPRK guided by the Juche idea did not and instead put forward the line of building an independent national economy based on self-reliance . Later Poland under the revisionist leadership even joined the IMF which the DPRK did not do ( and even if it wanted to , it would be blocked from doing so by the UN and US sanctions ).

The PPR was part of the Warsaw Treaty Organisation and had Soviet troops stationed on its soil whereas the DPRK never joined the Warsaw Treaty Organisation and had no foreign soldiers on its territory after 1958 . It pursued a self-reliant defence policy .

You cannot compare the DPRK ‘ leadership with that of Gomulka in Poland . Gomulka de-collectivised Polish agriculture  . I believe up to 80 percent of Polish farms  were in private ownership whereas the DPRK fully carried out collectivisation by 1958 and the economy became 100 pe cent socialised . The DPRK was one of the few socialist countries to complete 100 percent socialisation of the means of production , most of the East European socialist countries had private sectors . President Kim Il Sung put forward the ‘Theses On the Socialist Rural Question in Our Country ‘ in 1964 which put forward the line of carrying out the three revolutions -ideological , technical and cultural in the countryside and the eventual conversion of co-operative property into state property .

The DPRK and WPK always opposed revisionism . I believe that once Polish anti-revisionist Kamirez Miijal once said that the WPK along with the Chinese and Vietnamese parties were the only ones upholding true Marxist principles .

President KIM IL SUNG denounced modern revisionism early on . On 25th of August 1960 he said that ‘ Revisionists refashion Marxism-Leninism.

The DPRK did not praise Khruschov and the relationship between Khruschov and the DPRK was a very bad one . In fact Khruschov ordered his agents inside the WPK to try and carry out a coup d etat against President KIM IL SUNG  in August 1956 but they were smashed and defeated by the unity of the party and people . Later in 1962 the USSR imposed its own sanctions on the DPRK . In 1964  the CPSU daily newspaper ‘Pravda ‘ attacked the DPRK for holding the Asian Economic Seminar in Pyongyang .

Far from praising Brezhnev in 1978 President KIM IL SUNG attacked dominationism  pointing out that ‘ Dominationism is a counter-revolutionary trend that runs against the contemporary move towards independence; it is a common target of the struggle of the revolutionary peoples of the world. It is in the nature of dominationism to override the independence of other countries and oppress and control other nations and peoples.

Dominationism means, in one way, openly colonizing other countries and overtly oppressing and exploiting them and, in another way, dominating and controlling other countries by using various devious methods to put them under the yoke of slavery. Dominationism is practiced by the large, comparatively small, capitalist and other countries. In short, all those countries which seek to control other countries represent the dominationist forces, irrespective of their size and social system, and it is all dominationism to control others overtly or covertly.’ ( KIM IL SUNG LET US STEP UP SOCIALIST CONSTRUCTION UNDER THE BANNER OF THE JUCHE IDEA )

At the time Western commentators saw this is an attack on the Brezhnevite USSR or at least a veiled critique of the USSR .

When Chairman Mao met President KIM IL SUNG  for the last time in 1975 he said ‘ Apparently, this is for us the last farewell. My closest friend and brother – this world is lucky to have a great personality as Kim Il Sung. This causes my boundless happiness. The fate of the world revolution and the international communist movement are on your shoulders, Comrade Kim Il Sung. I wish you long life and good health. This is my last wish”

As to the idea that there is ‘bureaucracy ‘ in the DPRK . The DPRK strongly combats bureaucracy . President KIM IL SUNG  Chairman  KIM JONG IL  and Marshal KIM JONG UN have all attacked bureaucracy . The DPRK is based on the people-first principle .

The DPRK fully practises the Chongsan Ri method and Chongsan ri spirit worked out by the great leader comrade KIM IL SUNG and fully embraced by the great leader comrade KIM JONG IL. The Chongsan ri method is best defined thus

"The basic requirement of Chongsan-ri spirit is to thoroughly defend the interests of the popular masses, rally the entire people around the Party and convert all the works into that of popular masses themselves. The main content of Chongsan-ri method is that superiors help their subordinates, go out to the spot to grasp the actual conditions and find correct ways to solve the problems, give priority to the work with the people and fully mobilize the people’s revolutionary enthusiasm and creativity to carry out their assignment."

All cadres and officials are expected to do manual work . Every Friday in the DPRK all officials and cadres do a day of manual labour . Also some officials volunteer to go and work at construction sites outside of Pyongyang . For example some comrades of the DPRK Cultural Relations Committee went to work at construction sites . I met an official of the Korean Association of Social Scientists who had also gone to work at a construction site.

Officials live in ordinary blocks of flats.

When our delegation of the Juche Idea Study Group of England visited the DPRK we had some very frank discussions . A member asked about wage differentials in the DPRK . We were told that a worker earns about 2,000 won (not sure whether that was for a month or the whole year ) and a vice-minister or senior cadre earns 3,000 won . So the wage or income differential is only 1 to 1.5 based on this evidence. Compare this  to the UK civil service where the differential was 1 to 10 (excluding expenses and perks for the higher castes) and it is much worse in the private sector

We did not see large private estates or big houses . The DPRK is the most egalitarian society in the world and all this stuff about there being an "elite " is a load of rubbish made up by the capitalist media and reactionary bourgeois academics.

“the same group of people linked to the Kim family interests?’ , this just repeating the slanders of the imperialist media to used to demonise real authentic socialism in the DPRK .

The use of the term "dynasty " in relation to the DPRK is wrong and misleading because it equates the DPRK with dynasties in capitalist countries or with feudal dynasties like the Ri dynasty in old Korea which sold the country out to the Japanese imperialists . The DPRK is also unfairly singled out over the issue . For example the BBC and a lot of media love for example to refer India as the "world largest democracy " , blissfully ignoring the fact that for decades India was ruled by members of the Nehru-Gandhi family ( some may also point out that India has a caste system , human rights violations by landlords etc, repression of some organisations etc) . The USA itself has the Bush dynasty , the Clinton dynasty and in the past the Roosevelts .

It is quite wrong to compare the DPRK to any of these . Respected Marshal Kim Jong Un Is the people's choice for leader . He was elected as a vice -chairman of the Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea at the 3rd Party Conference of the Workers' Party of Korea and as First Secretary at the 4th Party conference of the WPK. The WPK is a party with millions of members and members from all walks of life from hotel cleaners to leading scientists , singers and actors . Most families in the DPRK have one member who is a Party member. Moreover Marshal KIM JONG UN was elected First Chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK by the Supreme People's Assembly(SPA)of the DPRK . The SPA was itself elected by 99.9% of the electorate , compared to the 54.9 turnout in the last US presidential election and 66.1 turnout in the UK general election. Which country has the undemocratic and unrepresentative system, the answer is obvious looking at the statistics.

Respected Marshal KIM JONG  UN  is indeed the successor to the cause of Juche revolution and Songun revolution started by the great leader President  KIM IL SUNG and carried forward by Chairman KIM JONG  IL . He is a people's leader who puts people first and a true patriot who values independence and does not sell the country out unlike the incompetent feudal dynasties.

People who go on about ‘dynasties ‘ and ‘family leadership ‘ in the DPRK fail to take into account Korean tradition and culture which means that the work started by a father should be continued by his son and then his grandson . People who ignore Korean culture are basically not only being extremely ignorant  but also racist and chauvinist towards the Korean nation .

We would pose the question that if Stalin or Mao had a son just like them , would you have opposed that son succeeding them ?.

In many socialist countries such as the USSR the succession question was not solved properly and as a result socialism collapsed in those countries.

Moreover President KIM IL SUNG , Chairman KIM JONG IL  and Marshal KIM JONG UN have made great and outstanding contributions  to the Korean nation and the building of socialism .

‘ The WPK has a complete monopoly on the information ‘ ??? What does this assertion mean ? It sounds like liberalism  ! Surely the CPSU under Stalin and the CPC had a ‘monopoly of information ‘ . Are you saying that it is wrong for the DPRK  , a small country confronted by the imperialists to have this but it is okay for the USSR and China both big countries to have such a monopoly  ? .

The DPRK is based on the socialist ownership of the means of production so there is no social inequality . There are no social contradictions and no racial discrimination. In the DPRK there is   no unemployment , there are no spending cuts and taxation was abolished in 1974 .

The DPRK is based on the Juche Idea , the philosophical principle of which is that man is the master . Thus because of the socialist ownership of the means of production which is both underpinned and enhanced by the Juche Idea , people in the DPRK have a high sense of ‘taking ownership’ of ‘stakeholding’ which does not exist in any capitalist country

As to ‘special zones ‘ etc  is not clear whether they still operate because of the sanctions against the DPRK . I cannot find any mention of them in the English text of Marshal KIM JONG UN ’s report to the 8th Congress of the WPK . The main thing is that the DPRK’s sovereignty would still apply in them and DPRK laws such as the ‘Socialist Labour Law ‘ and other laws .  Whilst the DPRK is flexible in dealing with capitalist countries  at  the same time it would strike back at any attempt to infringe its supreme interests or harm the socialist system in any way .

In 2019 Marshal KIM JONG UN actually called for the demolition of south Korean buildings in the Mt Kumgang Tourist zone saying that

“it was extremely wrong that a few blocks of such buildings reminiscent of temporary buildings at construction sites were set up for the tour of Mt Kumgang, the world-famous mountain’ and that ‘Mt Kumgang is our land won at the cost of blood and even a cliff and a tree there are associated with our sovereignty and dignity,’ He later criticised the Mt Kumgang zone again pointing out that ‘an overall and intuitive illustration of the fundamental difference between the architecture of capitalist businesses targeting profit-making from roughly built buildings and socialist architecture embodying the desire and aspiration of the working people.

Even a piece of architecture reflects the idea of the times, the height of the dignity of the people and the level of civilization and, therefore, construction is like an important ideological work, he said, calling for establishing Juche in architecture and thoroughly embodying our nation-first spirit and people-first spirit’

On the 16th of June 2020 the DPRK took the step of demolishing by explosion , the inter-Korean liaison Office in Kaesong on the orders of comrade Kim Yo Jong, vice department director of the Central Committee of the Workers Party of Korea.

As to ‘free market ‘ etc etc . This does not exist . We were told in 2008 , 2015 , 2018 and 2019 when visiting the DPRK that there are no private businesses in the DPRK.

CIA controlled news websites such as the notorious NKNews spread false stories for years about ‘reform’ , ‘markets ‘ and ‘opening up in the DPRK . It should be remembered that the CIA once hired a former Trotskyite James Burnham to produce theories slandering the socialist countries supposedly from the Left .

The headline ' North Korea shut the door on Economic Reform ' is to be seen . Certain so-called 'experts ' on the DPRK ( in reality hired hack writers of the CIA and south Korean puppet bourgeoisie) have spent the past 8 or 9 years talking about ' reform ' 'opening up ' and 'marketisation ' in the DPRK , now they are throwing up their hands in horror screaming that the DPRK reversing 'reforms' or 'clamping down ' on reforms . Of course the 8th Congress of the WPK stressed the need to enhance the leading role and unified guidance of the state over the economy as well increasing self-reliance.

However the so-called' economic reforms’ , really never existed in the first place . If you study the writings of respected Marshal KIM JONG UN  you will find no reference to ‘economic reform ‘ or ‘opening up ‘ etc .  In fact  in 2012 respected  Marshal Kim Jong Un stated that  "  Efforts should be directed to holding fast to the socialist principles in the economic work and enhancing the sense of responsibility and role of working people, undertakers of production and construction, so as to increase production to the maximum." and also that"  Efforts should be directed to holding fast to the socialist principles in the economic work and enhancing the sense of responsibility and role of working people, undertakers of production and construction, so as to increase production to the maximum." . On the 29th of July 2012 the Committee For Peaceful Reunification of the Country issued a statement refuting that idea of ' reform ' and 'opening up ' in the DPRK which said in part 'Upset by this, the puppet group let experts in the north affairs and others interpret the stirring situation of the DPRK in a self-centered manner, vociferating about "signs of policy change" and "attempt at reform and opening". This ridiculous rhetoric only revealed its ignorance and sinister intention against the DPRK.'

During a visit to People’s Korea in October 2019 our delegation spoke with members of another delegation , one of whom insisted that the DPRK had adopted ‘perestroika ‘ , that the DPRK was similar to the USSR in the 1980s and that there were ‘hundreds of private markets selling expensive foreign goods’ . Of course we saw no such thing !. When I repeated the allegation to our guide that the DPRK was supposedly ‘ restoring capitalism ‘ she replied that this was very untrue , very wrong . Later in our discussions with a senior Professor from the Korean Association of Social Scientists , we were told that the stories circulated by the south Korean and Western media in 2018 about the DPRK opening a McDonalds and joining the IMF were just nonsense , in fact laughable .

Visiting the DPRK many times since 2012 , I can say I saw virtually no sign of ‘ reform’ and ‘opening up . Prices remained the same in the shops over several visits.

Marshal Kim Jong Un affirmed at the 8th Congress of the Workers Party of Korea that the DPRK ‘s economy is an independent , a planned one and a people -orientated one .

Moreover at the 8th Congress of the Workers Party of Korea  and also at the 2nd plenary meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers Party of Korea and the 6th Conference of Cell Secretaries it was stressed that a vigorous struggle to eliminate anti-socialist and non-socialist practices from all areas of society .

It is an assertion of all kinds of dogmatists , revisionists , ultra leftists and sectarians that  ‘Juche rejects Marxism-Leninism  …. Therefore we cannot support the DPRK ‘ etc . In fact a component source of the Juche idea is Marxism-Leninism . President KIM IL SUNG  studied Marxist Leninist classics such as ‘Capital ‘ , ‘The State and Revolution ‘ and ‘ Imperialism the Highest Stage of Capitalism ‘ and creatively applied them to the revolutionary struggle .

Whilst being aware of the historical limitations of classic Marxist Leninist theory , People's Korea strongly respects the great achievements of the founders of Marxism -Leninism  as the great leader comrade KIM JONG IL  said " Our Party and people respect Marx, Engels, Lenin and Stalin as the leaders of the working class and speak highly of their distinguished service'. Moreover People's Korea is one of the few countries in the world where you can take a university course in Marxism-Leninism and dialectical materialism.

In People's Korea socialism had to be built through not only struggle against imperialism and class enemies but against a hidden internal enemy , dogmatists and factionalists . These people would argue against different policies of the Workers Party of Korea  either saying that  such and such policy was not in the classics of Marxism -Leninism or that it had not been done in a big country . Such elements claimed to be pure Marxists , purer than pure but in fact their approach was actually extremely reactionary and counter-revolutionary , for example opposing collectivisation . Ironically these arguments that were shattered decades ago in People's Korea  still echo among some on the Left today. Today much hostility on the Left to the Juche idea is based on Euro-centrism , social chauvinism and a belief that small countries cannot produce a great ideology , only a big country .

In the third world the Juche idea enjoys great support . In countries like Brazil and Bangladesh . It is an attitude of the European leftist movement to oppose Juche and repeat the slanders of the mainstream media against People’s Korea .

Nationwide struggle against the US

All strata of civic organizations including the Progressive Federation of Students waged the anti-US struggle outside the US embassy and the US military base in Yongsan, Pyeongtaek and Gunsan.

We hardly repress our anger at the US which makes no apology after killing the people. The US should make a sincere apology and leave south Korea, they stressed.

The US put pressure upon south Korea to increase its share of defense cost share for the US forces in south Korea, while conducting war drill. We cannot look on brutalities committed by the US with folded arms. The US forces in south Korea should be withdrawn from south Korea, they claimed.

They shouted the slogan. “The US should make due apology to victims of the April 3 resistance” and “The US forces in south Korea, which is disturbing the peace of the Korean Peninsula, leave south Korea”.

Important Information from the Pyongyang Mission of the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front of south Korea- About US missile deployment in south Korea

Important Information from the Pyongyang Mission of the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front of south Korea- About US missile deployment in south Korea

Of late, the US is working hard to buildup public opinion of additional deployment of strategic tactical arms.

The commander of the US forces stationed in south Korea made public the additional deployment of new missiles in south Korea.

He, at the US congressional hearing, said that the US army’s countermeasure against north Korea’s ICBM is unsatisfactory. The US has developed three kinds of missiles and one of them has already been deployed in south Korea

The south Korean authorities are going to deploy the US-made missiles to deter north Korea’s nuclear threat.

The US low yield nuclear weapons are capable of striking the north Korean leadership and strategic vantage points in north Korea and it would entail psychological effects.

The deployment of THAAD and additional deployment of new-type missiles would exacerbate the situation of the Korean Peninsula and neighboring nations.

The AINDF sharply reprimand the additional deployment of the US missiles in south Korea

Stop military drill

Stop military drill

On Jan. 28, over 400 civil organizations issued a statement in demand of suspension of south Korea-US joint military maneuver scheduled for March.

The joint military maneuver would incite military and political tension of the Korean Peninsula and trigger the danger of war that would claim the lives of millions of civilians, they warned.

The military drill would accelerate dangerous armament race and isolation, pressure and sanction are failed policies, they stressed.
