Capitalism Has No Future: Rodong Sinmun

Pyongyang, December 1 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun says in an article on Sunday that even though the Western politicians and media under their thumb idealize capitalism, advertising that it is a "typical example" of sustained development and prosperity whenever an opportunity presents itself, they can never cover up the social evils precipitating its ruin.

The article cites data to prove that the gap between the rich and the poor, unemployment, moral decay, etc. are the cancer of capitalism and its fate is destined to sink like a setting sun.

It goes on:

The gap between the rich and the poor, unemployment and moral decay are not a passing phase but the fatal one jolting the root of the capitalist system.

Capitalism has maintained its existence while pretending to be a "model" of economic growth and "modern civilization" but is now driven into a tight corner.

The phenomenon in which the rich get richer and the poor poorer, moral decay, social disintegration and public discontent get more serious and grow larger, driving capitalism into a crisis.

The Western world is making desperate efforts to check the collapse of capitalism but it can not stop capitalism going downhill with anything. -0-

Dear Comrades,

First, I would like to express my deep gratitude to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Turkey and the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece for exerting great efforts to successfully host the 21st International Meeting of Communist and Workers’ Parties that will be of great significance in the development of the world socialist movement.

Also, I convey militant greetings from the members of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) and the Korean people to the communist and workers’ parties and progressive peoples of various countries who are fighting to realize socialist and communist ideas, the ideal of humankind.

Comrades,

It is quite significant that this meeting, with the theme of “The fight for peace and socialism continues!”, is being held this year which marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist International.

The Communist International which was established with the purpose of defending the gains of the October Socialist Revolution and expanding its achievements, set itself a historic mission to organize and develop on the international scale the struggle of the working class and oppressed nations around the world to terminate the imperialist suppression and to break the chains of the capital.

For the 20-odd years the Communist International existed in the first half of the 20th century, the international communist movement and  the working-class movement made a rapid progress.

Of particular significance is the fact that in the 1930s, the Communist International set itself a strategic task to rally the working class and popular masses of all countries in the fight against war and fascism to prevent war, safeguard peace and democracy, thereby admirably fulfilled its role as the general staff of the world revolution.

The Communist International supported the policies put forward by Comrade Kim Il Sung, the great leader of the Korean revolution, such as the the revolutionary line on independence, the line on building a people’s revolutionary government and the line on anti-Japanese national united front, thereby encouraging the Korean people in their struggle to achieve national liberation and class liberation.

For the last 100 years since the founding of the Communist International the world socialist movement has come a long way and has witnessed in the process brilliant victories as well as painful setbacks.

However, no matter how vicious the imperialists’ anti-socialist moves may be, today socialism exists as an undeniable reality in many countries including the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, giving a strong impetus to the struggle of the world’s progressive peoples for peace and against imperialism.

Comrades,

The WPK has been able to frustrate the aggressive maneuvers of imperialism and successfully advanced the cause of socialism because it thoroughly maintained the independent line of revolution.

The building of socialism in the DPRK has to be carried out under the condition in which the country is geographically located between big powers and its territory divided into two and in which socialism and imperialism face each other in the most acute form of confrontation; it is therefore characterized by unparalleled arduousness and complexity.

In view of the unique environment of our country and fundamental requirements of our revolution, the WPK put forward independence as its political philosophy.

Throughout the course of building socialism, our Party rejected imperialism, dominationism, revisionism and dogmatism and solved all the problems in accordance with the aspirations of our people and specific conditions of our country relying on our own strength and hence built a socialist country that is independent in politics, self-sufficient in economy and self-reliant in national defense.

Today, in our country, the building of socialism has entered a very important and pivotal stage.

At the 7th Congress of the WPK, Comrade Kim Jong Un, Chairman of the WPK has put forward the grand strategic task of building a thriving socialist country to realize the ideal of prosperity, wealth and military strength.

In the course of the struggle to implement the decision of the 7th Party Congress, we have accomplished the historic cause of building the nuclear force of the state, on the basis of which we are leading the development of situation toward peace in recent years.

Major progress has been achieved in the efforts to put the national economy on a Juche-oriented and modern basis with the result that new sectors of industry have been created and domestic resources are widely used to meet the demands for energy, fuel and raw materials while every year we are witnessing new homes and streets and monumental edifices built for the people.

Through these notable successes made in the last three years since the 7th Party Congress, the Korean people have been convinced that they can effectively achieve the cause of building a socialist power when they rely on and further develop their own strength and capabilities.

Today, economic construction is not a simple contest of national power but a front line of political and class struggle to prove in reality the superiority of socialism over capitalism.

What is more, as the imperialists who lost nuclear supremacy are resorting to the last measure of sanctions and blockade against the DPRK, the economic construction is in itself a life-and-death struggle that would decide the winner and loser between socialism and capitalism.

That is the reason why the WPK has set itself the task of building an economic power as its major political mission for the present stage and reaffirmed building a socialist power under the banner of self-reliance as the Party’s political line at the 4th plenary session of the 7th Party Central Committee held last April.

Now the WPK is engaged in a vigorous struggle to improve the country’s economy onto a new higher stage of development based on the solid foundation of independent national economy built by the great Comrade Kim Il Sung and Comrade Kim Jong Il and relying on the might of heroic working class as well as the powerful contingent of scientists and technicians trained in the socialist education system.

Our goal for economic development is enormous and the imperialists’ maneuvers to hamper our progress persist, but the Workers’ Party of Korea will definitely build a prospering socialist power by itself drawing on the treasured sword of self-reliance.

Comrades,

Peace is an intrinsic demand of socialism and the desire of our nation which has been under constant threats of a nuclear war from imperialists.

In accordance with the strategic judgement of the WPK, the DPRK has been engaged in negotiations with the US aimed at replacing the 1953 Armistice Agreement with a peace treaty and building a lasting and stable peace regime on the Korean peninsula.

The DPRK has already manifested its definite intention to open a new era of peace and prosperity through taking crucial and significant measures in a proactive way such as suspending nuclear tests and test-firing of ICBMs.

Whether or not peace finds its place to settle on the Korean peninsula and in the northeast Asia depends on the stand of the US now.

What is important is for the US to remove all the threats and hurdles that undermine the security of our system and hinder our development, and completely withdraw its hostile policy toward the DPRK.

We will always hold the initiative in the righteous struggle for peace and security of the Korean peninsula to defend our socialist system and the gains of the revolution, and never tolerate or sit idle by the sanctions imposed by the imperialists, but fight against and frustrate their moves.

Comrades,

Socialism remains as the ideal and future of humankind and as the irreversible trend of the times.

The threats of capitalism against the rights to existence and development of working masses and the manoeuvres of imperialism to encroach upon the sovereignty of other countries at its will are growing more reckless day after day. The reality of today demands that the revolutionary parties aspiring after socialism strengthen the unity in their joint struggle.

Anti-imperialist independence and socialism are the basis of unity among the revolutionary parties.

The Workers’ Party of Korea will continue to struggle shoulder to shoulder with all parties from socialist countries on the road of building socialism and it will render strong support and encouragement to the communist and workers’ parties who are fighting against exploitation and oppression by capital and for the democratic rights of working class and other working masses.

I would also like to take this opportunity to express my sincere thanks to the communist and workers’ parties from different countries who are extending sincere support to the struggle of the Workers’ Party of Korea for the building of a powerful socialist country and peace on the Korean peninsula.

The Workers’ Party of Korea, in the future too, will vigorously struggle for the victorious advance of the cause of socialism in close unity with the communist and workers’ parties cherishing independence around the world under the high banner of socialism and anti-imperialist independence.

Dear comrades,

the disunity of the world communist movement is a serious fact, decisively contributing to its detachment from the working masses in most countries and to its inability.

The communist movement is strongly divided not only internationally, but also within most of the individual countries. In the Czech Republic, three Communist parties are registered, one working poorly, the other worse and the third practically not at all. The common attitude of the Communist towards other Communist parties and organizations in my own country is: “I am a member of the only revolutionary Communist Party, others are pseudo-communists, opportunists, serve class enemies and cooperation with them is not possible.” Others say, “There is no revolutionary party or organization in my country.” And I add with self-criticism that also I am not able to create one under current conditions and I do not see enough organized forces to establish it.

Differences of opinion on even the most important issues are often quite contradictory not only between individual Communist parties, but also within them. The fight against anti-communism cannot be effective if a number of members and officials of these parties also accept and disseminate anti-socialist propaganda, first and foremost the myth of “criminal Stalinism”.

A large number of Communist parties and organizations have resigned from independent policies and are concerned only with supporting one bourgeois camp against the other, as in the Czech Republic, where the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia supports the government of the oligarchic prime minister. The anti-Communist president of the Republic, a key figure in the 1989 counter-revolution, a Zionist and a warmonger, is an idol for many of the party's members. Almost all delegates of the party congress last year applauded while standing to this reactionary for anti-communist speech. The Czech president went so far in his hatred that he expressed a desire to murder comrade Kim Jong Un. Some Communists do not mind, however, because the Democratic People's Republic of Korea is politically more distant from them than the domestic anti-people's regime.

Most of the Communist movement is detached from the working movement for one or two generations, so Communists are indifferent or ridiculous to most workers. When the Communists in the capitalist countries participate in elections, they usually choose one of the main pillars of capitalism, such as social democracy. Alternatively, they do not vote at all, but without effectively carrying out non-parliamentary activities, so that they are completely out of social events. If they stand alone, they usually achieve results close to 0 %. Even our republic will soon be one of the countries where the communists will not be represented in parliament. It will not be a tragedy, however, because the working people will not feel it.

Representatives of the Communist parties in paid state and party positions are usually indifferent to the revolutionary theories and history of the progressive movement, focusing on bourgeois trade. By contrast, ordinary communists are falling into a sectarianism consisting in the constant remembrance of the great revolutionary leaders of the past, totally detached from

contemporary life.

Especially in the former socialist countries, the Communists express sharply anti-refugee attitudes, sometimes explicitly racist, calling for the defence of their homeland hand in hand with the domestic bourgeoisie against foreign proletarians. They do not understand that the enemy is inside. They even call for a strengthening of repressive state power. For example, a number of Czech Communist deputies repeatedly proposed a law against defamation of the President of the Republic.

These voices coincide with fascist, which suits the liberals and reinforces their campaign that "socialism and fascism are the same". An alliance with conservative nationalists against liberal democrats is manifested in parliament and in public rallies. It should be added that members of the same Communist Party sometimes face each other on the same action on both sides of the barricade. The conservative image of the "reds" also creates an anti-ecological attitude of some of them, their mockery of the ecological movement, which, unlike the socialist, gains the favour of the masses of youth.

Foreign participants in Prague theoretical-political conferences may think I'm exaggerating, because they do not hear such reactionary opinions here. I must add that supporters of the mainstream in the party, supporting the renewed capitalism, do not participate in these conferences, despise them, and have repeatedly tried to thwart them.

In the former socialist countries, we could not cope with defeat in 30 years. There are very few young supporters of socialism, with reformists and opportunists predominating among them. Strong anti-communism, which has been brainwashing society for three decades, has led young socialist advocates to believe that the current bourgeois-democratic regimes are better than both former and contemporary states claiming socialism.

I often meet with a call for a new Communist International. I believe that the current communist and labour movement is not ripe for its renewal. There are currently several international associations working to strengthen the international cooperation of revolutionaries, but I am afraid that none is working effectively and they are dividing rather than unifying the movement. There are so many contradictions in cooperation that effective coordination is not possible. Political and personal contradictions between the communists of individual countries are usually such that there is no possibility of only one communist party in one state, and the new Comintern would only limit cooperation to the circle of its member organizations. There is a need for all-round international cooperation between the Communist Parties and organizations, not limited by their involvement in individual international coordination.

It is necessary to improve and activate the individual communist parties and organizations before joining them firmly. If we combine the individual debris, there is nothing but a large wreck.

I believe that if the future of humankind does not belong to socialism, the future will not belong to humankind at all. I would like us to contribute to the first of these two alternatives, but for that we must break with the announcers of anti-communist and fascist views in our own ranks.

Commentary of AINDF spokesman

The US is going to hold the right of command in war and peacetime over the south Korean army through the UN Forces Command after transfer of wartime operation control to the south Korean army.

It well known to the world that south Korea and the US have pushed ahead to set up the future combined command at which the south Korean army takes the commandership and the US holds  deputy commandership after the transfer of wartime operation control.

However, the US said that it is unacceptable for the US army to be under the commander of other nation. It is insisting on exercise of the right of command in war and peacetime over the south Korean army through the UN Forces Command after transfer of wartime operation control.

It proves that the US has no intention to transfer its operation right to the south Korean army and it is going to dominate south Korea militarily for good through the UN Forces Command.

There are more than 200 nations in the world, however, no army entrust its command to the other.  

It is the result of disgrace and humiliation produced by the successive south Korean pro-US treacherous regimes.

It is disgusting that the south Korean authorities, that have entrusted the US with its command, advocate so-called independent defense.

Before saying its independent defense, the south Korean authorities should bid farewell to deep-rooted idea of subservience to great powers.

Broad segments of south Korean people should conduct a vigorous action to dissolve the UN Forces Command, a symbol of national disgrace and the source of fostering the danger on the Korean Peninsula.

Swiss Guests Visit AINDF Pyongyang Mission

Pyongyang, September 12 (KCNA) -- Martin Lotscher, chairman of the Switzerland-Korea Committee, and his party who are on a visit to the DPRK visited the Pyongyang mission of the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front (AINDF) on Thursday.

Chief Pak Su Chol and members of the mission greeted the guests before having a talk.

At the talk they informed each other of the activities of the AINDF and the Switzerland-Korea Committee and discussed the matters for boosting mutual solidarity.

The chief said that south Korean people from all walks of life are longing for and admiring at the DPRK which is demonstrating the dignity of the nation and national power under the leadership of Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un despite all sanctions and pressure of hostile forces with the might of single-minded unity and self-reliance and self-development.

He introduced in detail the struggle of the south Korean people against the reckless arms buildup and aggressive war exercises of the U.S. and the south Korean authorities.

Martin Lotscher said that through his Pyongyang visit he could understand better the fact that peace and security on the Korean peninsula and the region are being maintained despite evermore undisguised dangerous military provocative moves of the U.S. and south Korean authorities, adding this is ascribable to the tremendous national power of the DPRK led by HE Kim Jong Un, the peerlessly great man.

The struggle of the AINDF and south Korean people, that are ardently revering for HE Kim Jong Un as the lodestar for national reunification and dashing forward to the accomplishment of the cause of independent reunification, is sure to win, he said, and expressed his will to wage more active solidarity activities in support of the just cause of the Korean nation and against the imperialist aggressive forces in the future, too. -0-

Genuine Welfare Policy Impossible in Capitalist Society: Rodong Sinmun

Pyongyang, July 21 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Sunday stresses in an article that it is an out-and-out deception and daydream to build a "welfare society" in capitalist countries where the gap between the rich and the poor is extremely widening and all sorts of social evils are rampant.

The article says that the building of "welfare society" much touted by politicians in capitalist countries is nothing but an advertisement for covering up the inequality and anti-popular nature of the capitalist society.

It goes on:

A tiny handful of capitalists suppress and dominate the popular masses in the capitalist society. The state power is seized by monopoly capitalists and reactionary ruling quarters serving them.

There is no representative of workers and peasants in parliaments of capitalist countries. The same is true of governmental organs.

Politicians in capitalist countries are all mouthpiece for the interests of business giants and their servants.

They make all sorts of pledges during presidential and parliamentary election campaigns to curry favor with electors, but deny all of them after taking power.

Class antagonism and conflict reach an extreme in the capitalist society.

It is self-evident that capitalists can never have mercy on the working masses as the former remains hostile to the latter.

Therefore, the enforcement of genuine welfare policy for the people is impossible in the capitalist society. -0-

Rodong Sinmun and Kulloja Say Self-Reliance Serves as Eternal Lifeline of Korean Revolution

Pyongyang, July 13 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun on Saturday carries a joint article of Rodong Sinmun and Kulloja (magazine).

The joint article says that self-reliance serves as a revolutionary mode and the principle of struggle of the Korean people who regard independence and self-respect as their life.

It goes on:

All victories and glory the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and the Korean people have won through severe trials and difficulties for the last decades are the noble fruition of self-reliance.

Self-reliance is not just a tactical countermeasure for meeting a requirement of the changed situation and overcoming a temporary obstacle standing in the way of advance, but the invariable political line the WPK and the Korean people have confirmed and consistently maintained as a fundamental orientation and the mode of development in building socialism.

The banner for independence with one's own efforts the first generation of the Korean revolution upheld in the thick forests of Mt Paektu in the severe period when the nation's destiny stood at the crossroads of life and death has been more firmly inherited as the banner of independence and self-support in the whole course of solidifying the foundation of democracy and building socialism from scratch with one's own efforts.

Today, the political line of self-reliance clarified again by the Party serves as a treasured sword of building up a rich country with a strong army for defending the gains of socialism which can not be bartered for anything else in the world and accomplishing the cause of building a powerful country by fully displaying the potential for the development of the DPRK.

Statement Issued by Chief of AINDF Pyongyang Mission

Pyongyang, July 7 (KCNA) -- Pak Su Chol, chief of the Pyongyang Mission of the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front (AINDF), made public a statement on Sunday, 25 years after President Kim Il Sung left his last autograph on a document related to Korea's reunification.

The statement noted that the President pioneered the cause of national reunification and had led it to victory with his outstanding leadership and noble moral influence, taking to heart more than anyone else the tragedy of the territorial and national division by foreign forces.

He regarded it as his noble mission and as the biggest present for the fellow countrymen to reunify the country and, accordingly, signed a document related to the national reunification at the last moments of his great life, sitting up all night, it said, adding:

His historic autograph "Kim Il Sung 1994. 7. 7." vividly shows the great revolutionary career and patriotic intention of the President who devoted his all to the reunification and prosperity of the nation.

So, the great General Kim Jong Il saw to it that a monument to the President's autograph for national reunification was erected in Panmunjom to hand down his feats through generations.

Today, Kim Jong Un, respected chairman of the State Affairs Commission, brings about a new historic turn by wisely guiding the cause of national reunification associated with the lifetime of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il.

Indelible June Popular Resistance

The June popular resistance, 32 years ago, was the eruption of south Korean people’s pent-up wrath at the Chun Doo-hwan military junta which had engrossed in unprecedented sycophancy, fascist oppression and anti-reunification moves.

From June 10 to 29, more than three million people of different strata took part in the resistance to blow up governing bodies and throw hundreds of police vehicles into the fire.

Frightened by the south Korean people’s dynamic action aspiring after independence, democracy and reunification, the US and Chun military junta bent their knees to the people by publishing “a special declaration” the core of which is the introduction of a direct presidential election on June 29.  

The June popular resistance delivered a staggering blow to the US and the south Korean military dictatorial force and left an indelible trace as it brought about a fresh turn in the struggle against the US and fascism.

Many years have passed since the resistance, however, the martyrs' desire for independence, democracy and reunification has not yet been realized.

Chun and the LKP group have made desperate efforts to revive dark age of the past.

Current situation proves that neither independence nor democracy nor national reunification can be achieved unless the vicious challenges of the LKP are frustrated.

Civic organizations and people of various circles including the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions and April 16 Solidarity are staging candlelight resistance and demonstrations, describing the “journey for people” launched by the LKP as a deception of the public and an insult to the candlelight resistance. 

Meantime, articles encouraging the participation of candlelight resistance by broad segments of people are being posted on the websites day after day.

Marking the 32nd anniversary of the June popular resistance, many civic organizations are sponsoring various kinds of events in Seoul and across south Korea to conduct a nationwide campaign to dissolve the LKP.

Members of civic organizations called a press conference on May 14 in Gwangju to strongly reprimand the Liberty Korea Party which puts brake to investigation into those responsible for massacre of the Gwangju uprising and interrupts the institution of a "law on punishment of those distorting the history of the May 18 popular uprising".

On the same day, a civic organization held a news conference at which it said that the LKP is extolling the despotic era of Chun Doo-hwan to the skies and degrading the Gwangju uprising as a “riot” and men of merit as a “monster”. Such undemocratic and outdated party should be dismantled, it contended. 

The Youth Solidarity issued a statement on May 18 to open an era of peace, prosperity and reunification in the Korean Peninsula by inheriting the spirit of the May 18 popular resistance.

                                       

The LKP, a descendant of the Gwangju uprising, is distorting the history of the uprising, unsettled history repeats itself, punish the Chun Doo-hwan clique and the US, the mastermind of it and the LKP and conservative forces, descendants of manslaughter, they stressed.    

On May 17, a pan-national meeting took place in Gwangju with attendance of 10 000 people of various circles. 

A resolution demanding the investigation into the uprising, the institution of a "law on punishment of those distorting the history of the May 18 popular uprising" and retirement of lawmakers who distorted the fact of uprising was adopted at the meeting,

On the same day and at the same place, a workers’ rally was held.

The manslaughterers, who have lived in clover, should be punished by the history and people, they noted and called for the people to make clear the truth about the uprising and punish those responsible for it before the 40th anniversary of the uprising.

CPRC Reunification and Agitation Department Exposes Sordid Nature of LKP

Pyongyang, May 25 (KCNA) -- The Reunification and Agitation Department of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Country (CPRC) of the DPRK released an indictment on May 24, revealing the sordid nature of the "Liberal Korea Party" (LKP) keen on covering up their high-profile crimes and taking power again under the pretext of the "people's livelihood" and "security".

The LKP is a group of gangsters that have inherited the "tradition" of fascist dictators.

Far back in the past at the time of its first predecessor "Liberal Party", it enforced fascist dictatorship by invoking the "Security Law". At the times of the "Democratic Republican Party", it instituted "anti-communist law", "yusin constitution" and "social security law". In the 1980s it enacted a "draft law on assembly and demonstration". Through the fabrication of more than 100 fascist laws as such, the party turned south Korea into a prison without bars characteristic of the conservative party.

The long line of the names ranging from the "Democratic Justice Party", "Democratic Liberal Party", "New Korea Party", "Grand National Party", "Saenuri Party" to the "Liberal Korea Party" that the party has taken up has accompanied corresponding rallying and dismissing.

In fear of the candlelight demonstrators that flared up, it changed the name "Saenuri Party" into the "Liberal Korea Party" and claimed "repentance", "shake-up", "parting with the past" and "modification". But a crow is never whiter for often washing.

Exposing the essence of the "people's livelihood" cited by the traitorous party, the indictment continued:

The crippled south Korean economy and the impoverished people's livelihood are entirely the product, consequence and miserable result of the unpopular rule pursued by traitors Lee Myung Bak and Park Geun Hye during their term from the conservative party.

Lee Myung Bak who presented himself as an "economy-minded president" brought unprecedented pain and sufferings to the south Koreans with the production of more than 5.2 million unemployed and over 10 million poverty-stricken masses.

Park Geun Hye visited other countries for the conclusion of the humiliating "Free Trade Agreement", spending three million USD at one time, allegedly to achieve "diplomatic performance" only to plunge the subservient bubble economy of south Korea into an abyss beyond control.

The indictment censured the shameful "security" rhetoric uttered by the harassers of peace. It continued:

The traitorous party has now gone desperate, justifying itself as "security guard" and "peace guard" everywhere in south Korea.

Insulting the historic north-south summits and declarations as "strategy risking security" and "meeting devoid of details of nuclear dismantlement deal" and "declaration that was dictated by the north" and "unilateral declaration reflective of the north's interests only", they viciously slandered them, stressing the need to "stop pleading for dialogue and to tighten sanctions and pressure on the north".

The sinister aim behind the rackets of the "leftist dictatorship" and confrontation with the fellow countrymen touted by the LKP under the signboard of "security" is to round up conservative elements through stereotyped coloring offensive, revive fascist dictatorship, hobble the north-south reconciliation efforts and create the phase of acute crisis of war far back in the past.

The LKP is a group of traitors that have to be thrown overboard together with the kingpins of evil doings.

Hwang Kyo An is the No. 1 target of the abolition of evils out of the LKP group keen on pushing back the wheel of history under the excuses of the "people's livelihood" and "security".

No matter how loudly the LKP group including Hwang may cry out for "people's livelihood" and "security", they can never cover up their sordid nature as the fascist party, the group of sycophantic traitors and confrontational maniacs and hotbed of evils.

It will be hard to realize new politics and new life wished by the south Koreans nor will it be possible to expect improvement in the north-south relations and peace and prosperity on the Korean peninsula with the cancer-like entity and group of traitors like LKP left intact.

However hard the traitorous party may try to find a way-out by citing "people's livelihood" and "security", they are destined to meet ruin, in the face of the fierce resistance and severe punishment by the people, the indictment concluded. -0-

Striving for Realization of Genuine International Justice Holds Principal Position in Foreign Policy of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea

Justice is a common ideal of humankind, and it is a shared aspiration and desire of all countries and nations across the world to achieve prosperity for all in a free and peaceful world where genuine international justice is in place.

In the international arena at present, however, the globally recognized fundamental principles governing the international relations are being blatantly violated, the imperialists' moves for aggression and war are being justified and legitimized, and the imperialists' attempts at violating the sovereignty of other countries at the former's own free will are growing more pronounced than ever before.

The reality urgently demands that the world progressive peoples undertake active struggle for the realization of international justice, irrespective of their differences in political and religious beliefs and level of economic and cultural development.

At the 7th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea, Comrade Kim Jong Un, Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), underlined the need to fight for genuine international justice while articulating the independent foreign policy of our Party and the government of our Republic.

The respected Supreme Leader Comrade Kim Jong Un said as follows.

"It is essential to fight for genuine international justice."

Independence is, after all, justice, and meeting the demand for independence and interests of all countries and nations in a fair manner is essential in realizing international justice.

To any country or nation which is entitled to exist and develop independently as a full-fledged member of the international community together with other countries and nations, mistreatment and oppression by outside forces are an intolerable insult, and justice cannot be said of in a country afflicted by domination, subordination, interference and pressure from outside forces.

The great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung and the great leader Comrade Kim Jong Il confirmed through their personal revolutionary practices that independence is the justice of history, the victory of revolution and the basis for development of fair international relations, and they guided the trend of history along the road of independence, thus opening up a new history of independence in which the popular masses carry out the revolution of their respective countries in an independent way and build a new just world, freed from domination and subordination.

Comrade Kim Jong Un, Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK, holding higher the banner of independence, the banner of international justice held by the great President Kim Il Sung and the great General Kim Jong Il, undertakes vigorous activities for check and frustration of the domination moves of the imperialist reactionaries, for friendship and solidarity with the socialist countries and the anti-imperialist independent forces and for establishment of independent and fair international relations and world peace and security.

Four-time visits to the People's Republic of China, visits to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Russian Federation and two-time DPRK-U.S. summit meetings and talks were historic events that fully demonstrated to the whole world the strategic standing and dignity of our Republic and made great contributions to safeguarding world peace and security and building a new independent and just world.

The DPRK will not make any slightest concession nor compromise, as in the past, on the matters relating to the fundamental interests of our state and people and make determined efforts to achieve genuine justice which serves to fairly meet the demand for independence and interests of all countries and nations.

In order to realize genuine international justice, it is necessary to resolutely smash all kinds of practices and challenges that run counter to it.

Comrade Kim Jong Un, Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK, taught that it is imperative to exert every effort to categorically reject high-handedness, arbitrariness, double standards and injustice of the imperialists which trample on the sovereignty and the right to existence of the country and nation and ensure fairness in addressing international issues, and shatter the brazen and deceptive appearance of "justice" held out by the imperialists and dominationists.

Now in the international arena, there are serious contradictions and struggles going on between the world progressive peoples who are striving to defend the sovereignty and dignity of their countries and nations on one hand and the imperialist reactionary forces who are resorting to aggression, war, high-handedness and arbitrariness on the other hand.

Because of the aggression and interference of the imperialists and domination forces, the sovereignty of countries and nations is being violated and war and conflicts are ceaselessly breaking out in various countries.

The actions of the imperialists - which have been carried out against Syria during the past several years and are now repeated against Venezuela to remove a legitimately elected president of the sovereign state - are a direct challenge to international justice.

Worse still is the fact that such an armed invasion or interference in internal affairs is committed under the cloak of "annihilation of terror", "provision of peace" and "protection of human rights".

Imperialists are calling the countries subservient to them as good ones but branding the insubordinate countries as "evil", "gangster state", "dictatorship" and "state sponsor of terrorism", and they are attempting to outrageously impose their value under the signboard of "justice".

We demand that double standards and high-handedness rampant now in international relations be never tolerated, and abnormal phenomena detrimental to justice and truth be not permitted nor acquiesced any longer.

All countries and nations aspiring after independence and justice should resolutely frustrate the imperialists' practices of high-handedness, arbitrariness, aggression and infringement upon sovereign rights and safeguard the sovereignty, and they should also wage a vigorous struggle to smash the imperialists' hypocritical talk of "justice" and realize genuine international justice.

It is important to ensure that the demand of all developing countries and international community as a whole is fairly reflected in resolving the international issues now confronting humankind such as conflicts, anti-terrorism and environment.

Now in the discussions of international issues, independent demand and interests of the developing countries are marginalized and the law of jungle is rampantly pursued.

Some irresponsible countries deliberately turn their faces away from the environment and other serious issues and openly override the internationally agreed conventions for the sake of their economic interests.

The countries aspiring after independence and justice should increase vigilance against the maneuvers of imperialists trying to fish in troubled waters by meddling in disputes and to interfere in the internal affairs of sovereign states under the pretext of anti-terrorism, protection of human rights and so on. They should also direct the spearhead of attack toward the egoistic acts of imperialists seeking only to be better off for themselves by sacrificing the whole world.

A new international order based on sovereignty should be established in order to realize genuine international justice.

Now in international relations, the priorities and the deciding powers are given only to the developed and some specific countries, whereas the opinions of the developing and many other countries are ignored.

In order to rectify these abnormal practices, the old order which is tolerating the privileges of some countries in international political area should be eliminated, the principles of respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity, non-interference in internal affairs and equality be applied, and an international economic order based on the principle of equality and mutual benefit be established.

The great President Kim Il Sung and the great General

Kim Jong Il advanced the idea of replacing the old international order - which had been framed by the imperialist powers in a way that would enable them to decide and settle the international issues on their terms - with the one which meets the desire of progressive humankind aspiring after independence. And through their energetic external activities the great leaders ensured that the non-aligned and developing countries pool their efforts to establish a new international order based on independence and develop South-South cooperation in political, economic, cultural and other several fields on the principle of collective self-reliance.

With a sense of responsibility and consciousness which correspond to the strategic position considerably raised thanks to the extraordinary wisdom, unique courage, tireless efforts, self-sacrificing devotion, outstanding and seasoned leadership, and vigorous external activities of Comrade Kim Jong Un, Chairman of the State Affairs Commission, our Republic is fighting more resolutely for destruction of the old international order which is resorting to an injustice under the signboard of "justice" and to establish a new fair and just one.

It is important to guarantee fairness in the activities of the United Nations and other international organizations in order to establish a new international order.

The historical fact, which shows the international organizations assume an important role in establishing a global order, indicates that the process of establishing a fair international order would necessarily go hand in hand with a process of properly solving the issues associated with the international organizations.

There now exists severe gap in equality among countries and nations in several international organizations. At the United Nations alone, the non-aligned countries, though counted as an overwhelming majority, are not exercising due influence, whereas a small number of powers are enjoying privileged rights, contrary to the UN Charter.

What should not be overlooked is the reality that the so-called "resolutions" are adopted in the UN and other international arena to serve only to justify and legitimatize the high-handedness and arbitrariness of specific countries, and the unheard-of acts of injustice of forcing sanctions on the victims are openly committed in the name of UN on the ground that the victims protested against the offenders.

Even though sanctions might be taken as the last desperate measure by those forces who admit their inability to bring us down by force, they themselves amount to a grave infringement upon our sovereign rights and an outrageous mockery of international justice, and therefore, we will not tolerate them in the least but confront and completely smash them at any cost.

In order to eradicate the relations of domination, subjugation and inequality and build a just world where full-fledged sovereignty and equality of every country and nation are ensured, the international community should be democratized and, to this end, the United Nations and other international organizations should be democratized.

We strongly hold that the UN and other international organizations terminate the orders and practices of tolerating the privileges of certain countries and provide for the legislative and institutional underpinning which would fairly ensure the independent demand and interest of every country and nation on the principles of respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity, non-interference in internal affairs and equality.

International justice never comes of itself, but it is only possible when the anti-imperialist, independent countries become strong enough.

If a country is not strong enough, it will have no voice in the international arena, nor ability to defend justice and conscience, and it will become to play into the hands of the powers, however honest and just it may be.

Thanks to the wise leadership of the great President and the great General, our Republic has consolidated the single-minded unity of the Party and the people, the strong foundations of self-supporting national economy and the powerful national defense capability under the uplifted banner of independence, self-reliance and self-defense, and these are a reliable guarantee of the struggle for achieving genuine international justice.

Upholding the historical policy speech delivered by Comrade Kim Jong Un, Chairman of the State Affairs Commission, at the First Session of the 14th Supreme People's Assembly, the DPRK will further consolidate the material foundation of socialism and strengthen the political and military might in every way, thus accomplishing the cause of building a powerful socialist country and contributing to realizing genuine international justice.

The justice-loving progressive countries of the world should strive to build on their strength on the principle of self-reliance and self-development.

It is equally important to strengthen the unity based on independence.

The world progressive peoples, who are championing independence, should counter the imperialists' moves of division and alienation with a strategy of unity, and they should unite and cooperate with one another, transcending the differences in social system, political views, ideology, religion, nation and races.

It is an unshakable stand of our Party and the government of the DPRK to strive for realizing genuine international justice.

The DPRK will as ever actively push forward with the sacred cause of building a new independent and just world in strong unity with the peoples of all countries aspiring after independence and justice, holding high the banner of anti-imperialism and independence, the banner of international justice. -0-

A Critical Military Maneuver Some days ago, the trigger-happy south Korean military staged a fortnight-long joint aerial drill with the US. Of late, it conducted in secrecy aerial exercise of “F-35A”stealth fighters introduced from the US. It is a challenge to the Korean nation desirous of a durable peace on the Korean Peninsula. The Progressive Federation of University Students of south Korea called a news conference outside the US embassy in Seoul on May 9 to express their strong opposition to the joint aerial drill and demand the abolition of joint war game. The fortnight-long aerial drill was the one that the codename of military exercise was changed from Max Thunder and the scale and duration have been reduced. It is a wanton violation of the September Pyongyang Declaration and June 12 DPRK-US joint statement, it noted. Though it changed the codename of war drill and reduced the scale, however, the nature of war game remains unchanged. The joint military exercises are only fanning up the military confrontation and tension in the Korean Peninsula and the joint military rehearsals should be totally discontinued not reduction, it pointed out in its protest letter.

Statement from the Pyongyang Mission of the AINDF regarding the Gwangju(Kwangju) massacre

The Gwangju Popular Uprising that took place in May 1980 was the righteous struggle of the south Korean people against fascist violence of the Chun Doo-hwan military junta and for independence, democracy and reunification.
39 years have passed, however, the truth behind the Gwangju massacre has not yet been properly investigated.
Some days ago, two men, who witnessed the Gwangju massacre while serving at the then intelligence department of the US force and the south Korean Army Security Command, testified at the National Assembly.
At a press conference, two men divulged the fact that Chun visited Gwangju on May 21 to issue an order to kill uprisers and etc.
Civic organizations called a news conference and made public statements to demand a clear investigation into the Gwangju popular uprising. They are dead-set against participation of Hwang Gyo-ahn, who turned down the investigation into the uprising and described it as “riot of mob”, at the memorial ceremony of the Gwangju popular uprising.

Hwang Gyo-ahn, head of the opposition Liberty Korea Party, inspected Gwangju on May 3 to win popularity, however, he ran away only to get derision, insult and cold-shoulder from the Gwangju residents.  

Hwang, who served as the minister of Justice and prime Minister in the days of Park Geun-hye regime, was ousted from office before his expiry with Park by the popular candlelight resistance. He, far from making a sincere reflection and apology on the past crimes, visited Gwangju to drive the residents into great fury.

On the day, civic organizations including the Gwangju Solidarity for Progress flocked to the Gwangju station to demand the disbandment of the LKP and urge Hwang to resign.

Prior to Hwang’s arrival, the LKP’s distortion of Gwangju popular uprising is still vivid in the hearts of the Gwangju residents, they said. They noted that they would show enraged feelings of the residents to the LKP and Hwang. 

The residents encircled the venue of meeting sponsored by the LKP when Hwang arrived, carrying placards. 

They chanted slogans “Hwang, go along!” and “Dissolve LKP!”. “March for Dear Ones” was played from a loudspeaker van at the one side of the plaza.

Meantime, an angry resident sprayed bottled natural water upon Hwang.

The workers of Juche Korea are ardent patriots strong in ideology and faith and fighters of self-reliance who invariably take the path of independence and socialism, always following the Party in the ordinary and stormy days.
Self-reliance is just the traditional fighting spirit of the workers and an ever-victorious treasured sword for building a powerful socialist nation.

Workers in North and South Call for Implementing North-South Declarations

Pyongyang, May 1 (KCNA) -- The Central Committee of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea, the south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions and the south Korean Federation of Trade Unions, organizations of workers in the north and the south, released a joint statement on Wednesday, the 129th May Day.
The statement noted that the workers in the north and the south declare their firm will to take the lead in the path toward peace, prosperity and independent reunification on the 129th May Day, the international holiday of the workers of the world.
Expressing solidarity with the devoted efforts of all the fellow countrymen for independence and peaceful reunification and declaring their will to always stand together in the van of the struggle for implementing the Panmunjom Declaration and the September Pyongyang Joint Declaration by dint of the firm solidarity the workers in the north and the south which have unanimously kept for 20 years, the statement said as follows:
We will pave a broad avenue toward implementation of the historic Panmunjom Declaration and the September Pyongyang Joint Declaration by getting united under the banner of By Our Nation Itself.
All the workers in the north and the south will courageously turn out in the struggle for ending the present stalemate and making a new engine for implementing the declarations.
In order to keep the north-south relations from going back to the ones in the era of tension and confrontation in any case, the workers in the north and the south will do their best in taking the lead in creating the environment and conditions for implementing the declarations.
We will get united under the banner of By Our Nation Itself that definitely prioritizes the understanding and demands of the nation and become an engine for ushering in a new era of peace, prosperity and independent reunification.
